Exactly! Not sure how people can even ask this question.
For me, no it’s not worth it. I could work, rather than putting in those hours of cleaning, listing, meeting, meeting again, etc etc selling on the street and make most of the trade in loss back. Of course I could also spend that time with family and friends.

Oh yeah, and they still ask stupid-ass questions like:
"what is wrong with this car?"
    "Why are you selling it?"
I got asked this selling a 2006 WRX 100K mile with full maintenance record.

But can you replace it right now without including your first born son in the deal?

All i can you when i listed my 2 boston whaler boats on craigslist, in minutes the phone rang off the hook. People never even asked the condition, or questioned the price...it was 1st come 1st serve. I've even sold other properties on craigslist rather than through a real estate agent...always got the price listed. Been with 2 real estate agents for 3 years now trying to sell a large piece of commercial property, and its been a pita what you have to go through, plus they need to get their commission.

Only time i'd ever consider trading in to a dealer is if i had a pos not worth anything. They just take it off your hands. Downside is your now working off their msrp or whatever their full retail price is.

Take it to one of those new car dealerships holding the weekly buy back specials. They always claim to give you more than your trade is worth. Make sure they also have a few $50,000 used Tacomas on their lot.

You dive away in a free new Tundra after taxes.

Think how sales people feel and you know they have to be nice to all customers or lose their reputation/job.

Yes. They also pontificate on oil change intervals and which body wax is best for mileage.

Just went through this with mine. The tacoma holds its value better then any car/truck. Didnt want to sell it on my own and have people coming to the house and haggle with me. Dealer gave me an offer well below all the online buyers like cavana , vroom, carnax and the like. They average 3000 better then dealer. So i went to a used car lot that buys and sells and they gave me 5500 more then what dealer offered. Your dealer will rip you off with a lo ball offer and then try to convince you that its a great offer and you get sales rax break on a trade in. I told him i wanted the proper value of the truck and then ill add the sales tax break. Anyway got 5500 more then dealer. They were the absolute lowest of the many places i went to

Nevada does. You pay sales tax on the difference between new and used.

Most likely youll have plenty of time to get offers for your truck. Your gonna wait 1-2 months for a nee truck so youll have time to do ur homework. Dont let the dealer screw you

Agreed! But sometimes it's worth more trading in cuz in some states you only pay taxes on the balance of what's left after the trade. I got 28000 on my trade in on my RAV 4. I only paid taxes on the remaining 9000 balance of my Taco. I made off like a bandit for once!
