The 2015 Wrangler I just traded in was even worse, strapping an old Maglite to the hood would've been a vast improvement. Even hanging my arm out of the window with a zippo would've helped.

Headlights on my 17 are better than my second gen 2010. If someone judges them poor they need to visit an optometrist.

I had a '13 with both stock and HID headlights (post and pre accident) and both were alright but left much to be desired in comparison to the '17s I'm driving now!

I don't know what some are saying that the LED's don't throw enough lights, your example clearly shows how much better they perform over the stock. What bulbs did you get for the lows?

What? Projectors are superior to reflector headlights in every way, regardless HID or not.

I know, however a lot of people, mainly older people don't like the cutoff. They are used to and have been used to the scattered light produced by the reflectors

I don't have a problem with the stock lights. I drive the speed limit and can see deer and passed out drunks in time to stop so that's good enough for me.

He also has rigid LED fogs. I guarantee you that low beam LED bulbs aren't that bright. Look in other threads and their throw is abysmal.

i was going by his picture where he had stock/LED lows/LED lows w/ Rigid Fogs and the throw for the LED lows seem pretty darn good.

From other member's experiences with LED bulbs

From what I can tell, in dry, complete darkness they appear to be brighter but with any street lights, rain or adverse conditions they are noticeably worse. If you look at the bulbs themselves the diodes are not in any optimal path to direct the light out. I wanted LED at first for plug and play but ultimately went with a high quality 35w HID kit with a relay that costs less than the higher end LED bulbs.

IMG_2862.jpg Sorry guys here is a photo of just the LED low beams on a dark night without the rigid fogs on. I am approaching a small hill in the photo so normally they do project further. I am happy with them. At some point I might get HIDs I think they probably do throw a bit more light but I don't feel like messing with mounting ballasts yet and I'm waiting on a good replacement kit to come out.

Here is a link to the LEDs I have.

I feel you. I was going to get LEDs as well but after reading all the reviews and especially how much it rains during the winter here with little day light, HIDS + yellow fogs were the best option for me. Also because my HID kit was about the same cost as those LED bulbs. Check for the HYLUX HID kit thread around here, lot of members are definitely happy with their upgrade.

Can't say anything bad about them. I did, however, just get my HIDs in the mail. I'll be installing them either this weekend or next weekend after I'm back in town.

I've always had HIDs in my vehicles (with projectors) so for me it wasn't about getting "better" lighting. Just what I'm used to. I'll post pics after the install.

My only, small, criticism of the stock lights is that they seem aimed lower than I would prefer. I would prefer to see further out. The way they are now, you see the road right in front of your truck really well but not too far out. Driving 60+, if something is right in front of the truck I'm hitting it, but if I could see a couple hundred yards up the road I might be able to avoid it or slow enough to let it skidattle (ie deer).

Someone was saying an 8mm wrench lets you adjust the height. I'll have to try that out sometime.
