Do the payload/tow ratings account for occupants?

Does the payload noted on the sticker on the door account for any occupants (passenger or driver)? Does the tow rating?

Probably not going to have much of a trailer, maybe an 18' flatbed with a SxS and a couple ATVs at some point, just trying to figure out what we can and cannot tow (or load) without going over the ratings.

If anyone can point me to a thread on deciphering rear end gearing and ratios for the 6MT, that would be great...if not, I am sure I can find them when I get time to look around more.

    Thanks.

Payload is passengers, cargo in the bed and tongue weight of the trailer. It’s easy to exceed that fast.

Here are the 2018 detailed specs. Doubtful the '19 has any change in this area.

Pg 2 has what you are looking for.

Payload is any weight beyond what the truck itself weighs. It has to be factored in whenever you're looking at gcvwr, tow ratings etc. When you see an advertised max, read the small print and you'll find the only way to meet those numbers is with a very specific combination of stripped down vehicle, single occupant weighing less than 150lb etc. A fully loaded and occupied truck can not pull the same advertised weightand still be spec.

What I did with mine is the following:

With the added running boards, tonneau, mud flaps and items like tools etc that would always be in the truck, and with a full tank of gas, I took it to a scale for a base weight. It turned out to be 4700 lbs. That means I have 900 lbs available for cargo (driver, passengers, tongue weight, additional cargo). Not much lee way even though the door sticker says not to exceed 1000 lbs I gotta go with what I got. Never hurts to know for sure.
