Do the spark plugs really need to be replaced at 60K miles on Gen 3?

Many counterfeits documented here and other places. Some people heed warnings and others don’t mind taking risks to save a few bucks. COMPLETELY up to you.

Don't do it. RockAuto is your best friend when it comes to parts. A set of Denso plugs is $55 shipped.

Funny how so many people get hot if “you” divert from the 10k OCI change that costs $60 and scorn you for thinking you are smarter than a Toyota engineer BUT will tell you to just blow-by the Toyota engineer recommended 60k spark plug replacement. Can’t make it up-SMH.

I strongly suspect it's because those people have a secret case of the don't-wannas when it comes to plugs. Oil is easy. Plugs and transmission are less easy.

I agree oil is easy- for some of us anyways.

Just turned 60K. Pulled the plug on cylinder 5 (I think... the one closest to the dash on the passenger side). Here is what it looks like. Any advice? Thanks.

Did my plugs at 70k and wish I had done them sooner. Two plugs were finger tight (loose) with one getting some blow by. The plugs themselves looked good but once you’re that deep in the project just replace them. Do them at 60k just to check the factory assembly. A doable job, watch some YouTubes and get a wobble spark plug socket.

I just did mine at 92k. They looked pretty good and the truck idles smoother. I plan on changing then after another 60k

Think of it this way. If you were looking to buy a truck, would you go with the one where the guy followed the maintenance recommendations or the guy that didn't?
