Do the Toyota Dealers really intend to drive off customers?

That is what got me to dig up those jars of nickels out in the yard and get a new Tacoma NOW. And the 6 speed manual makes it the most fun to drive truck.

How is something made in 2006 correlate to anything made today? Everything is completely different for every manufacturer. No different than my dad not eating at McDonalds because in 1991 they served him soggy fries.

 

This is the thing right? If you like all the trucks and they are somewhat pretty similar, which truck are you going to want? Ford, chevy, Nissan, toyota.

 

I remember i called a dealer about a 4runner that had a good online price. Called and told me price was 8k more than online price. Asked what the 8k was for. Said dealer add ons. They added paint protection, digital license plates, etc. like why would i want digital license plates??? Unreal

 

you did the exact same thing. Listing an example for we have to assume is at least 21 years ago (unless you are talking about a 2014). My point being you can’t take any manufacturer for what they were 20 years ago, he just happened to mention GM so I used that. Same goes for Toyota, Honda, Dodge, etc.

 

These guys are there to rip you off. Up to you if you let them. We're in a market where people are paying 10K over MSRP for Tacomas, and these vehicles are are everywhere.

I recently looked into a Sport AC with the MT, couldn't find anything. Then they offered me a MT OR for 49K before taxes. This was last week, I'm 100% sure if I called them now that truck if gone.

Point is, with everyone throwing money at the dealerships, they'd be fools to turn it down. Blame the people with more money than sense. Right now, the average buyer has no power.

Just gotta wait for the market to shift, one day.

Fair point with what I posted (and didn't post).

The truck was under powertrain warranty plus the secret warranty for the cylinder head. 2 dealers both stalled me about getting an appointment after doing the leakdown test and certifying it for warranty, then said oh no we aren't going to do it unless you pay cash. Finally found a dealer to do it who gave me a large surprise bill "oh the timing chain was junk too, GM will reimburse you but I can't give you the keys until I get paid". GM told me "oh he could have gotten permission to do it under warranty, we can't help you now". Plus being without a vehicle 3 weeks for their faulty product. Look up 2004-2006 Colorado head failure and you'll see it's a common issue, not a fluke.

I mean yes, my Tacoma "shouldn't" have needed a frame either. But they took care of it and gave me a rental for the duration.

I think it’s more which dealer you deal with. Here in Canada I had no issues. I told them from the beginning nothing extra. They asked me if I wanted an extended warranty I said no thanks. I’ll be voiding that thing within a week and they didn’t question anything.
