    dang it! Wrong tense! :D

Thankfully this is not our only vehicle so rising gas costs won’t kill us… assuming things don’t go full Mad Max.

If I just bought 10 Tacomas, loaded them all with lumber, and parked ‘em in my basement......I’d be rich!!

As much as I love MM2 “the road warrior” our society first has to go through the mad max (1) stage. Mad Max 1 always disturbed me a little more, as it was pretty similar to normal times, just with lawlessness starting to gain a foothold in the outskirts. Society was coming apart at the seams.

I bought a 2016 F150 ecoboost in 2018, put 20,000 miles on it and sold it this year for $1000.00 more than I paid 3 years ago. Crazy.

We are witnessing inflation in real-time on this forum. We all think it’s “crazy and wild and amazing”. What it really is, is alarming. It’s not that Tacomas and lumber and houses, and used F150s are worth “more”, it’s that your buying power is falling off a cliff. Your money is worth less. It’s starting to spread into more categories.

maybe I’m wrong, I dunno, but if it smells like a turd, and looks like a turd, probably is a turd.

I remember somewhere in OK or TX IIRC that had a "gas bank" where you could pre-purchase gas at the current price. Would be nice to have one locally.

While inflation is certainly a factor, this is much a supply-and-demand issue right now in my opinion.

Lest we forget the 0 for 60 super cheap prices we saw back early on covid, now rental places are buying cars, factories are starting to get back to full speed again.

What does that have to do with a news channel? Have you not been outside? Do you not own a small business? This is reality. People are being paid more to not work.

If you can take advantage of the market, great. Just be smart with your next purchase so you don't simply flush the windfall into the next over-priced thing. It's one of th ereasons I leased my Tacoma, the incredible residual values make it a safe choice to ride out the next 3 years of my transportaion costs.

Exactly, COVID has had a ripple effect through the entire supply and production chain of almost every good and service, and that's not going away for a while. It's going to take some time but supply will catch up eventually. This is a global issue, not just price-gouging at your local auto lot.

Global good transportation is a mess right now as well. If you are shipping goods in from overseas right now, your costs have doubled over the last year and there aren't enough containers or ships to meet demand at the moment, it's a real mess.

Go to google, type in USD vs EURO, or vs any other currency.

look at year to date. Last year we got .9 euro to 1 usd, now its .8

those stimulus checks everyone got, they were not “free”. Your paycheck is not going to increase but your expenses are, to cover the .1 we lost in value. We all just got poorer.

I know this is a radical and inflammatory idea but....

Have you tried paying people more?

Right? Just pay them more than your business can afford.

I think that’s been the popular opinion, and may be true, but personally, I’m starting to wonder if that is the case.

It seems every week there is a new category of goods or purchases that is becoming less affordable. Let’s hope it just coincidence.

Yes. Eventually. This is another component of inflation. Everything will get more expensive over a given period of time, just not always in the amount or sequence we may like. Those who position well can take financial advantage of this. Those who don’t go for a ride. In the end, it typically settles out with the usual winners and losers, but you can’t say we didn’t try.

Depends on the business I suppose. Congress can afford to give themselves raises, but that doesn't mean they need or deserve them. So long as it's someone else's money. I can 'afford' to pay $8 for the gasoline I need...wouldn't be very smart when the going rate is $3.50 though would it?

Yeah.... when the $7.50/hr burger flipper gets $15.00/hr the burger price eventually goes up about 40%. But unfortunately it's still the same burger... never ever looks like the one in the commercial.
