But it wouldn't be a Tacoma, it would be a Hilux. They are not the same vehicle. I'm not a fan of GM, with exception of 60-70 muscle cars, and 50-80 trucks.

    In a perfect world, yes.

I read somewhere that the 5MT didn't play nicely with TSS, but who knows.

6MT should be available in the SR though....just on principle, imo.

Green is coming back in motorcycles. Next stop is auto's, maybe with the 2020 facelift.

I believe Toyota will keep a MT option just because they can see a bump by doing so. They'll pair it down to a single model/chassis maybe an SR-X ACLB or something.

For a total of 43? Makes zero sense. Round up.

Sold my Ruckus last year. It might have been the only stock used Ruckus for sale when I did

One, I was referring to the part about dropping the Tacoma for Hilux.

Second, it's highly unlikely Toyota loses any market share to Ranger, because it's been pointed to time and again (at least IMO) that midsize truck sales largely seem to draw from their own brand-base. When the Colorado, the canyon and the Ridgeline came out, the Tacoma's sales increased, not decreased. The Ranger will likely mostly sell to Ford buyers.

Who knows, though. Maybe I'm completely wrong - but I just don't see the Ranger having a different effect on the Tacoma's sales as other new competitors have.

Quiet running massive torque electric motor with no torque curve. That’s the low end power these trucks are missing. 1000 km range on a tank of gas? Equivalent 25-30 MPG?

So, heavier with the batteries but what about a hybrid stops the Tacoma from being an off-road truck?

Don’t know about you, but for ME, as it stands NOW? Trust. And the ability to repair familar components easily on the trail, and relative low cost of said components brought on the trip. Ease and speed of troubleshooting. But you do you.

I had 3 S series truck’s in a row, the last one a ‘99 S-10 ZR2 in Meadow Green Metallic. But the transmission blew the 3/4 band and the rear diff grenaded and then the rebuilt rear diff blowed up too. All before 250,000 km. Bought a ‘05 Tacoma brand new and just traded it in on an ‘18. I’m not going back.

That and availability to refuel... good luck finding a charging station on or near a low maintenance road...

Why would the hybrid even have to be an off road vehicle? The hybrid could be an option. Options are a good thing.

Just because something isn't a good option for one person doesn't mean it's not a good option for another. If one offroads, and a hybrid doesn't work well for that at the time, then just don't get the hybrid. That doesn't mean it shouldn't exist for the probably 95% of Tacoma owners that don't off road. lol

Bottom line, if Toyota rolls out a hybrid Tacoma that gets legitimately better mileage (something like 25/30), it would likely sell like mad.

But who knows, all-electric tech is moving along so fast, I wouldn't be surprised if they decide to go that route over a hybrid in a few years.

I hope this is sarcasm...I can’t imagine they’d save more than a few cents.

I was thinking more along the line of focus groups full of dummies.

Fair enough. I was just responding to one element of the message, in that I wouldn’t want to off road it.

They just cut the bed storage cubbie on the left side of the bed for 2019 so it seems anything is on the table to cut costs.
