No. The sides flare out from bottom to top. The width at the very top, where a camper shell actually sits, is what decides if the shell falls down into the truck, or is supported. Not at the bottom, or partway up at the accessory rail.

Imagine you have a topper, and the new beds are wider, and you want to know if the topper will be usable, or fall down into the bed. That is the width measurement no one has posted, and every person with a camper shell needs.

The SMC (sheet molding composite) bed interior on the Gen 4 looks exactly like that from the original Gen 2. I don't think Toyota have changed the SMC tooling since 2005.

We already know that the bed is wider than the gen3 bed, both at the bottom and at the midway accessories rail. So no, the "smc" fiberglass bed is NOT the same. It looks similar, but that doesn't help an older shell balance on the top rails, if it's too narrow...

Can someone measure from level ground to the top of the highest point on the bed rail? Preferably on a TRD Off Road but another trim will give an idea.

Need to see my ride height with a GFC camper installed. I know the GFC sits 29 inches above the top of the bed rails. Plus an idea of how the reach in is from the side of the bed.

Here are a few more dimensions beyond what I gave the other day..
Inside bed width at top of bed.. front = 57⅝ at tailgate = 56⅜
From front of bed to tailgate = 61"
From ground to top of bed at front = 52" at tailgate = 53"
From top of bed to top of cab is 18¾"
Keep in mind that the cab has an extension or a spoiler trim piece that sticks out to the back but does not extend above the cab.
I posted other dimensions on March 14th on page 2

I had a chance tonight to take some measurements of the SMC interior of the beds of a Gen 4 at my dealer and my Gen 2 in my driveway.

Inside bed wall-to-wall above wheel arches. Measurements to nearest half inch or so using my Fluke digital measure in the dark. These need to be double checked in daylight...
    Gen 4: 57-3/4" (4' 09-3/4")
    Gen 2: 58-1/8" (4' 10-1/8")
Difference: 3/8" wider for Gen 2. That could be my measurement error, frankly.

Inside bed between board notches on the wheel arch tops.
    Gen 4: 51-7/16" (4' 03-7/16")
    Gen 2: 55-3/4" (4' 07-3/4")
Difference: 4-5/16" wider for Gen 2. I need to make sure I was sighting the right lines. This seems like too much difference.

The inside width at the top of the bed is roughly 1¼" narrower at the tailgate than at the cab.
Unless I'm missing something here, it's meant to add to the appearance or 'form' of the truck more than the 'function' but it seems detrimental to not keep the bed width the same from front to back. In my way of thinking it just seems more logical to keep the width uniform from front to back.
Imagine having to design camper shells or one-piece bed toppers or tri-fold aluminum bed covers to fit this odd shape. Not to mention the headache of designing a camper shell to work around the spoiler or trim that sticks out at the back of the cab at the top.
I've tried getting the same brand and style of bed cover (LoMax) and running boards (Raptor) for it that we put on our 2023 Tundra but the manufacturers have told me they haven't even started designing and tooling up for lack of being able to get their hands on a 4th edition Tacoma.
