Do weld on or bolt on sliders require less maintenance to prevent rust?

Hi so I've read probably every slider thread I could find but haven't found a clear consensus to this question.

For weld on, one just sands off surface rust and recoats. In the little nooks and crannies it seems like it can be a pain to sand off, but fairly doable. What about on the interior of the tube where you cant see/sand? Could rust spread from the inside to the frame of the truck with little options to stop it?

For bolt on, it seems like the plate butted to the frame is a perfect spot for water/sand to get trapped and cause rust. Obviously you can take it off and sand/coat, as it seems most people do. Taking those things off is not super easy by yourself tho..

Anyway, I realize anything steel can rust and anything taking hits will require maintenance but which of the two styles is the easiest to keep in good shape? Knowing myself, the easier it is to keep it in good shape, the likelier it will stay in good shape.

I would say bolt on would be easier to maintain. Take them off, sand them, paint them, all while on something where your not laying on the ground. Then bolt them back on.
