That line in bold is what keeps a lot of people out of prison. The defense lawyer doesn't have to prove that you are innocent, just prove that there is a shred of doubt that you are guilty.

Which is fucked up.. bc if there are more than 1 credicable witness, video survialnce and or DNA that proves your guilty. they should just skip straight to execution. Since 2000 there have only been 2 Henious crime (Commited after 2000) convictioins that were over turned because person was wrongfully accused.. with the technology of today people don't get away with crimes or get caught when innocent.

I have a friend of mine that was accused of rape, was almost kicked out of the military and it wasnt until the trial that he was cleared bc he was dumb enough (or smart enough I guess) to take pictures and video of them having sex that cleary showed she was sober enough and willing.. but the girl claimed she was bc people around the barracks were talking about it.. and she didnt want the rep..

Those 2 overturned verdicts are the reason for these appeals. The day we execute an innocent person is the day our judicial system looses all credability and the death penalty goes away

One definition of insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results :)

Anybody that can murder so many people should be shot in the head. Mental or not you're fucked up, you fucked up now you have to face the penalty like anybody else. If you can go though life without being noticed of a mental issue or breaking the law then all the sudden you kill that many people, Fuck that you're not insane you just wanted to be a big man for a day and feel the power. Sorry but i hate that guy.

    Hmm

I'm curious about a connection here.

How many people in this thread who are saying "put a bullet in his head" or "get me the rope" aka "fuck the bill of rights, throw it out the window" throw a fucking fit when the 2nd amendment is brought into question.

    That's not true at all.

That's an excerpt from a book and the author was not a medical Dr.

Interesting, so off with the 8 year old who accidentally shoots and kills his friend of brother? 12 year old? 14? on purpose?

What if the person was obviously mentally handicapped ... visually? Meaning, you could tell by looking at the person that he/she was mentally handicapped and has an IQ/Skills of an 8 year old. Off with their head?

Because this person "looks sound of mind" on the outside you cast aside his issues as irrelevant?

Yea, it's been a really long week and I'm in a bad mood. The comparison was slapping me in the face.

First of all, do you think they'd try an 8, 12 or 14 year old as an adult? As far as I'm aware, there is no death penalty for children and that whole discussion would open another can of worms.

Keeping it to adults, mentally unstable, who have committed a horrible crime, I do not see how their appearance is even remotely rellevant and I never said anything to the contrary. Explain to the parent who had their kid killed or the kid who had their parent killed that because that person was deemed unstable, they aren't going to have the same consequences as someone who is stable. Again, I'm all for being proactive and getting people help who really need help. If people slip through the cracks, commit the crime, I believe they should have to deal with the consequences. I understand that you disagree with my opinion, but at the end of the day, both of our stances are just that, opinions.

    I know, joke wise.

But, in a thread about murder, death and all that I didn't think it a very light topic. Plus, mental health awareness/issues etc. mean a lot to me. I think it's something you have to have close experience with to even begin to understand.(plus if you asked most people what insanity is, they would say that quote from a narcotics anonymous book) (Well, ok, most would say "Albert Einstein" and I would LOL)

But ..."true story brah" ... come up with something original.
