I appreciate you taking the time to reply and help me out. I get you with the OCD part of this. I want it to look great. I got jerked around by the dealer so I decided to try it myself. I've been meticulous about the YouTube videos and Crutchfield links.

Where did you run the Satellite antenna for placement?

They dealer also told me to get a 12v to 5v step down for the antenna? Did you do something like this?

    I appreciate the help.

I pulled the cover/cowling around the radio, a pannel just to the right of that (one screw), the "A" pillar, the small tweeter speaker on the passenger side, the kick panel on the floor passenger side then the sill on the floor. I ran the satellite antenna through the dashboard down through the floor sill plates then up the rear door weather stripping and mounted the antenna on the roof. Where the sat antenna wire came out of the weather stripping near the top I put a dab of RTV to make sure the seal was still water tight.

As for the step down, I used what ever Crutchfield gave/sold me. I've had no issues at all.

This isn't my first and even still I go slow.

Hey, thanks again. I love my new Tacoma but I can't spend $600 to have the dealer install it when I'm pretty sure I can do it if I take my time. Do you have a picture of your sat antenna coming out of the stripping? Just trying to get a visual in my mind to compare.

No, not at the moment. At work and to lazy to go out and take a pic .

I just used one of them plastic tools from Harbor Freight and pulled the stripping back from the door frame a little and pushed the wire in with a chop stick until it was as far in as I could get it. Pushed every thing back in place and made sure to park in the sun so every thing formed back in place.

Also when you run the wire you want to go from were the antenna is going to be mounted to the radio. It's easier to run it that way.

I don't have the Entire app and prefer not to have any software updates at this point in time. I use the preinstalled traffic and weather apps. My Entune unit does everything I need it to do and has never crashed or restarted in 7 months. My thinking is if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

I like Entune, primarily for Pandora and IHeart Radio. It works with my IPhone 6 S. The Weather app is nice and Fuel Guide is great for finding the nearest gas station with the best price. I wish Toyota would Make more apps available.

I was dead set on getting a Carplay setup until I went wheeling in Colorado and was able to see the county roads on the built-in Nav. I think I'll wait for an update. The app also seems to log itself out a bunch.
