My 2nd gen 2005 Tacoma paint job was complete shit. Clear coat died about 6-7 years into ownership, Florida summers destroyed it.

I've never own another white yota again. FYI it spent 100% of the time outside also never seen the inside of a garage.

Sealant and Wax is a must in my opinion for longevity of paint.

    Dude, those TE37's...

I have gunmetal SCS F5's which are more utility-looking but man, those are sex. I've been entertaining the idea of someday getting a set of "light duty" wheels with street tires for when I'm just rolling around town. Quieter, lighter, better mileage, and so on.

I'll probably just end up with a set of OE Toyota alloys for that, but there's a little devil on my shoulder saying "do it! DO IT! Get the TE37's!" Though then I look at the price tag and realize I do have to eat occasionally.

None of my 5 trucks have never been stored in the garage.

Absolutely! My Tundra was garaged 90% of the time and for the 3 months it wasn't this happened after a Kansas storm: [IMG]

Never again. One of the reasons I moved to a Tacoma from my Tundra is because this actually fits in the garage where my Tundra was too large to fit. It's still tight, but it works.

I got the same setup as Jason up above, the 2001 did fit in the garage, barley, but I never did park it in the garage, those spots were reserved for the wife and one of my sons, the 2016 sits outside and will never see the inside, no way would it fit, unless I can slide it in sideways :) Paint on my 2001 which I gave to my other son is looking good, and I think I wax that about 5 times in 15 years!!!

Mine has been outside for a year straight now, never seeing the inside of a garage, and it still looks brand new. And it's black, too! lol

"Do you garage your 3rd gen?"

No. I live in the projects. I cannot even get them to get rid of the mold growing behind the walls. A garage.. what is that you speak of?

You'll be fine outside trust me! :D
Mine stays out 24/7 as have all my previous vehicles. I do have a 2 car garage, but only one can fit as I keep my riding mower, lawn equipment, tool boxes and what not.
Just be sure to wash it with car wash soap on a regular basis and clean wax once in a while to make room for the new dirt and air the paint and you'll be happy with the appearance of your vehicle for many years.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

I specifically bought the shorter wheel base so I could park it in my small garage.

Only concern is red, red does terrible in the sun. Just look at any 2005-2010 red taco and you'll see significant fade.

With my luck, If I did garage mine, that would happen to me while on the road or at work so I don't worry about it and hope the over priced insurance I pay steps up to the plate when and if the time comes.

    Cheers!

Both vehicles garaged. For us, not the vehicles. Cool in the summer, warm in the winter. No scraping snow and ice.

Haha yeah I know the feeling lol. I wouldn't have bought the wheels ether at the retail price. But the owner of the shop that I bought them from is a good good family friend of ours and he gave me a deal I couldn't refuse! But those SCS F5 wheels were the wheels I originally wanted before I got my TEs! I still might get a set of F5s!

Waxing is something you did in the seventies to keep your car from rusting out in five years.

Why in the world would anyone waste that kind of time. I got a buddy who loves his vw so much he even waxes his wheels. He's a tool.

Like all of us on this forum I paid some pretty hard earned money for this thing so i take real good care of it. Although it's not garaged it is frequently washed and I plan on appropriate wax intervals as well. I don't care what color it is as long as you keep up on the aesthetic maintenance like you would for the mechanical stuff it should look absolutely fine.

My wife and I each get one side of the garage. She puts the car in hers. I put my bike in mine. Truck stays outside.

I wish I had a garage for my truck but garage is full of shit on 1 side and a woodshop on the other. Wouldn't want my truck covered in sawdust. It sits outside and I wash it every couple of weeks. I hate detailing it then it rains a few days later.

Before my wife got her CX-5 I had both sides of the garage, one for my '13 and one for my STi. Since swapped the STi for a C5 which lives on one side. The CX-5 replaced my '13 (only seemed fair I don't get both sides at the same time) and if she's out for the night or if I beat her home from work I'll take her side, but 95% of the time, mine's in the driveway.

I wish my Mom had a garage at her house, I'd store the Vette there in the winter and keep my truck in the garage.
