When I bought my truck in Jan it was at night and I could not see the truck very well to inspect it all. The next day I saw a flaw on the glove box door. It almost looked like a run of chemical. I wiped it with my finger and it would not come off so I called my dealer and made a appointment to see them. I took it to them and they said they would get me another door. They did and it had the same flaw so it must be in the mold. I talked to the service manager (which was a grump) and he told me he could order 20 and they all could be like that. So he basicly told me he was not going to do anything which made me mad! I told him I would not accept that and wanted it fixed.I got with my salesman and he got with the top man of the whole place. Nice fellow and I told him I bet I could find a glove box on one of the trucks on the line for sale(about 30 )that had a good one he said they where all unlocked and go find one and they would change them out. Cool !! So I went and you know what the first 3 had the same flaw (some worse than others) I found one that was good and it was on the most expensive Tacoma they had.I told him I found one and told him which one and without a blink he told his service manager to swape them out. Howa about them apples!!!! They fixed it and now everybody is happy. So there is a glimmer of hope that there are Dealerships out ther that will take care of the customer after the sale. But you still have to watch them.

Do you think it was worth canibalizing their truck to fix yours?

Everything I read about 3rd gens makes me glad i got a 15 instead of a 16. Makes me want to wait a couple years when a new model comes out.

Specter sir with all do respect to you Yes
It had a factory flaw that needed fixing. I paid for a new truck with no bad flaws.
The service manager said he was not going to fix it.
So I had to talk to somebody else.
The head honcho said he would take one off another truck to fix it. He could of said no but he did not.
    It got fixed

Dealerships do this all the time in providing customer service, especially if the needed part isn't readily available in parts.

I think I have the same flaw as you. Kinda looks like the mold was filled from either side and the plastic started to cool by the time it met in the middle. Could be way off but that's the idea that popped into my head.

If you really want to know how good a dealership is it shows is how good they take care of you after the sale.

I have some serious orange peel in the paint on my rocker panels. Not so bad on the drivers side but I'm shocked it rolled out of the factory it looks so bad on the passenger side. Noticed it in some pictures other's have posted. And the amount of surface rust the first day I had it... they're clearly not trying that hard. If it just manages to run for 20 years...

I'm not referring to the stick-on anti chip barrier. The paint has a lousy finish from the surface being too far from the paint gun.
