I have had the Merino wool socks and was looking in that direction, but decided to invest in a pair that has a higher quality and also last longer, so may be a better value in the long run.

My comment "All those virgin snow drivers.", wasn't about the area people live, but was ment to the young people that just got their license and haven't yet driven in snow, so they are "snow virgins".

I was going to say something that wasn't nice, but Captain America has been a personal favorite since I was a wee-lad, so out of respect for the Cap. I will just tell you I treat people on this forum, how I want to be treated. I was answering a person from Oregon's statement about people getting into wrecks in the snow and it had nothing to do with where you live.........peace.

How do these stack up to all the other brands of wool socks like SmartWool, REI, etc.

I'm not an expert on socks, but have worn Merino socks and on the other extreme all wool socks. In my opinion these socks have the perfect balance of comfort and warmth + you can tell they are good quality.

Buying these socks was the best decision I made in 2016 and my feet thank me every time we walk in my 100 year old house this cold winter.

thats a good price... my go to socks for single digit days are Wigwam Ingenious https://www.amazon.com/Wigwam-Every...sr=1-1&nodeID=1036592&keywords=ingenius+socks

For wearing around the house anyway... they don't make your feet sweat, and when your feet ain't wet, they don't get cold. I have 8 pairs of smart wool socks that I use for hunting, hiking, working outdoors but they are too warm in the house...and these Wigwam's have a heavy duty outer blend that stands up well to walking around in just socks... But I'm apt to give these carharts a try..thanks for the recommendation.

You are welcome and hope you post back here if you end up buying a pair, to let us know if you think they are worth the investment.

Believe it or not I bought mine a month and 1/2 ago, buying 4 pair at $13.99 each and saved $16 on the prices today, so if you can wait till off season you will get a better deal.

These socks don't feel 86% wool and have never made my feet sweat inside yet.

Have you insulated the floor? That and sealing perforation points can make a real difference.

And the socks rock, needed anyway. Speaking of which, I need some today. It will only be 56 here.

So glad to be rid of that NH house we owned.......... :bananadance:

No the floors aren't insulated, I have been rehabbing a shoulder impingement, otherwise I would have plastic over the original 100 year old windows and that makes a HUGE difference.

Yeah, I own a 2 family home by myself with everything being original. Been thinking of selling it, but it's a nice area and this home has been in are family for 100 years.

I just started wearing these Smartwool, they don't irritate (itch) my skin like normal wool. I like them.
