Ollie was half lab and half golden and hated water anywhere but in her bowl.

My dog always rides in a crate in the bed. It is the safest place for them. Plus it is a PITA to get dog hair out of the seats and carpet ect..

I wonder if it's something about the ones that are a mix. :notsure: My gf's parents have an american lab that loves water (also dumb as a brick) and a labradoodle that could care less about it.

My first dog was a Great Pry/ Golden, love to ride in the back and was smart about it. Never had a problem. Had a number of dogs between her and present one. Present dog is a Great Pry/ yellow lab, She is a very smart dog except when it comes to squirrels. Two month ago 2 squirrels ran out in front of the truck while she was in the back seat, well out she went and think God is was only doing 5mph and no cars were coming. The end results was a broken right rear leg and a large bill and she still healing. So lessen learned, dog in back seat with window ½ down from now on. Let me add this she only a 1 ½ old and I could bring myself to put her down, she a great dog, just goes dumb when it come to squirrels. So much for the next 4or 5 month of upgrades. Oh well!!

I'll have to snap some photos. My pooch rides in a cage in the bed.

He's a big part of why I have a pickup truck. He gets too dirty to have inside of anything you care about.

I've always had my dogs ride in the bed. Never had a problem with them jumping out either. My current dog is NEVER allowed in the cab, he gets carsick very easily. It's not as bad when he rides in the bed so that's where he goes.

I've never had a dog while having the truck, but id rather have to clean up hair then have the dog jump out of the bed, or get slammed into the rear window in the case of an accident. I believe its way safer to have them inside

I figured the size of the dog had alot to do with it. My dog hates riding in cabs, before I had my truck I would have to pick his big ass up and force into my moms car to go anywhere.

I'm actually building a fold up ramp tomorrow so my dog can get up in the bed of my truck. He had a hard enough time jumping in it, then I put on a 3 inch lift and he can't make it up there. Maybe if he wasn't 9 years old he could do it :/

Not really, he rides in the back seat in his little dog bed.
    He likes it back there.
I stopped letting him look out the window after he almost fell out.
My austrialian shepard use to ride in the back of the truck with a cap on it.

That should be a trick you teach him. Follow up with a lesson on burnouts and drifting.

Have him straped in and use harness (criss cross type) rather than his regular collar.

    Safty:
Have a bed mat to give dog some traction.
Use harness unless you know dog will stay put.

If I open the tailgate he thinks it is for him and he jumps right in! He likes it back there lots to smell.

Same here, my black lab loves water. I went canoeing with her the other day and she pulled me at least 3 miles. She wanted to keep going but I made her stop. Silly dog.

Anyhow, she rides in the cab with me, unless there is a friend with me, then she her crate in the bed.
