Same here. The Rav4 is fair game, but my truck is off limits.

I can understand drinking. You said he’s in college so he’s old enough to smoke a cigarette and die a slow death- at least he’s making the smarter/healthier choice of the 2. Couple facts to consider- it’s 95% safer (proven), nicotine doesn’t cause cancer and it’s no more harmful than caffeine. And in case you fell victim to the news so called vaping outbreak that caused deaths… shocker, you were lied to. That so called outbreak/deaths were directly linked to black market thc cartridges not “vaping”. Just saying

I understand as a father I’m sure I’d like my daughter to do neither also BUT If she was to smoke id rather her vape instead.

I was driving my brother in laws Taco few days a week when i had an frs. It made me trade in for a Taco few months later! Haha...I mean family is one thing i understand that, i would most likely be willing to lend them my truck, but if its friends uh well thats a different story. Unless they break something or whatever and they agree to be fully at fault if they get into an accident then..ill still have to think about it lol

I don't have kids, but given the way my niece and nephews have treated their parents vehicles?
That's a hard No, until they have a several year track record of respect and cleanliness. Not sure why "oh they're just being kids" is a legitimate excuse, it wasn't for me.

I would let them drive a beater until they have some driving experience.

My 15yr old daughter...soon to be 16 in a few weeks has driven the Tacoma with me in it of course....2 or 3 times.
We ended up buying her a 2008 Toyota 4Runner for her first car....so no more driving dad's truck.

If I had kids, I would let them drive it, assuming they were reasonably responsible. My dad let me drive his Tacoma when I first started driving, and I knew it wasn't easy for him. Now that I'm grown up, I respect him a lot for that.

My dad always let me drive his diesel on the weekends as soon as I got my license but mainly because he taught me how to back a 38' camper into a camp spot before I got my license. Now that I have a newer Tacoma, I won't even let my fiancee drive it - mainly because she has a tendency to hit the occasional curb.... But, I was always responsible, never drank and drove, always respected his truck like it was my own and made sure to clean it up for him before returning it and I will always appreciate him letting me borrow it. Something about being in high school and driving a big Duramax makes a kid feel cool, especially taking a girl out on a date in it!

Hahaha. I wish I'd been old enough to drive my old man's truck a few times back in the day.

My son (5 years) is amazingly good at it too, he cant reach the pedals so I do those. But he knows when he turns if he lets go of the wheel it will correct to straight. Ill go from the entrance to the neighborhood, put him on my lap and he will steer the whole way through the neighborhood and up into the driveway.

Sure do, he is 80% why I bought it. Way safer than my other truck (F250 Turbodiesel) for him.
