Do you need J2534 cable w/ 2.0.x firmware to re-program "G" keys?

I was able to get access to turning off seat belt chime, ABS bleeding (I think that's the "air bleeding" button in ABS right?), TPMS Registration, & FOB programming. All with the 12.20.024 version of Techstream & V1.4.1 firmware cable.

No key programming though (as pictured here, 2nd picture down). Does this mean I need the v2.0.x firmware cable? Any good places to buy one? 2.0.1 vs 2.0.4?
    • SOLVED 10/19/2022: You cannot be in the global/"other region" version of Techstream, otherwise key programming will not show up. To change this go to the main menu of Techstream, in the top left select Setup > Techstream Configuration > North America. Then voila, key registration showed up for my 1.4.1 & 2.0.4 cable.

Also, less important, but what are the 0805-1006 & 1006-1109 (as pictured here, first picture.) options during vehicle selection in Techstream?
    • SOLVED 10/19/2022: See above solution. When in North America version of Techstream, the drop down will be in years (2014 was on there :) . Not MM/YY as it appears in the global version.
To answer the title: Key registration did show up with my 1.4.1 cable, but I ended up using my 2.0.4 cable to program the key without thinking about trying the 1.4.1 cable first. Also, during the last step of registering the key, when you insert the new key to be programmed, big red flashing words tell you not to turn the new key to the on position. So, after it not working by following the directions, I did exactly as the big flashing red words said not to do. Key programmed like a charm after that.

    Thanks!

Is that not 'transponder code registration'? (Never used Techstream, but my barely-does-2-way kinda basic Autel TPMS/OBD2 tablet could program the G-marked keys on my '11)

The dropdown in the first picture is production ranges in MMYY.

One would think, but I was looking online about people doing it in techstream and they had both key registration and transponder code registration options, so naturally I assumed (perhaps incorrectly) that the latter was only for the FOB’s. Just figured I’d double check because they did leave it rather ambiguous.

Now that you mention it, if the production year only goes up to 2009 (09), then maybe it's my software b/c I don't think they had "G" keys until later years.

The '1109- ' should mean (everything?) after 11/09 production, meaning after early '10s?

Yeah, I think it's just the cable then... b/c I'm 99% sure this Techstream software version came out after 2014. I went and tried again w/ 1109- selected and nada. Also it can't read live ECU data, but can perform bi-directional functions??? I feel like that's so backwards lol.

I'll just have to get me the firmware version 2.0.x cable. Not sure if there's any real advantage of 2.0.4 over the 2.0.1 but if anyone knows that'd be great.

    Thanks @fb40dash5

Figured it out, I was in the "Other" or "Global" version of Techstream. Switched to North America, and all my problems went away for both the 1.4.1 and 2.0.4 cable I had. Now that I switched to the NA version, both cables have the same functionality: i.e. they both have FOB & Key registration, and neither of them can perform active tests in the ECM which is unfortunate, because I thought the 2.0.4 cables could but oh well, my Autel can. Can't read the live data/data lists with either J2534 cable as well.
