Or OZ. You could drive 6 hours to the Southren Interior of BC. It gets just as hot and humid in the middle of summer. At least you don't have to drive across the boarder.

I personally don't put anything in the back of my truck, even in the winter. I drove all winter and not had a single problem. I drove the speed for the type of road conditions. Driving through the Rocky Mountains three times a year you learn how to adapt your drive to all weather conditions. A great winter tire will do wonders over putting weight in the bed of your truck.

In the winter only or maybe November till April. 6 X 50lb sand bag on the rubber bed mat. They barely move as long as the 4 tires are on the ground.

Also, this winter I'll have my bed mat in like last. Never take it out! I'd say it's almost 50 pounds. Also may have a skybox on bed bars. With snowboarding gear and bord in at all times for winter. But idk what size or if I will have it done.

Added weight in our truck will just make our stock springs sag even faster. 4wd for the win.

maybe... but don’t care to much. they will be gone when i lift. replaced with a heafy duty pack. 4wd will help. but some time adding a little weight over the rear wheels will help even more.

Part of the reason for the weight is to help it in unexpected situations, at least that's partly why it was in my Mustang and last truck. For example, driving down the back road, looks nice and clear, and all of a sudden there's snow drifting across the road on the other side of a crest or something. My understanding was you can't drive in 4x on dry pavement, so wouldn't weight be prudent? For roads with constantly changing conditions like I run into?

in my ranger two sand bags were an absolute minimum at all times to keep that thing from riding like a bucking bronco. also for safety in the rain, it was awful. i had 2x4s in the bed liner that kept them over the rear axle. during the winter time i went to 4 sand bags. when i needed to haul lots of gear, i had to remove all the sand bags... its like removing throw pillows in the movie "along came polly", only with 50 pound sand bags...

the nice thing about sand bags is dual use, if you get really stuck you can cut them open and empty them out on the ice under the tires.

the Tacoma rides so much better, and has such better traction control than my ranger i have not had any need to put play the sand bag game. VT this winter will be the real test.

I use 40# top soil bags (4 of them in winter) works just as good as sand but in
spring I just use them to fill up the holes my dog digs.
I really like the $1.25 a bag at wally world over $3.50 a bag for sand
which just blows away where I live:)

    The coldest temperature ever recorded in Winnipeg was −47.8 °C (−54 °F), on December 24, 1879. The coldest since then was −45 °C (−49 °F) on February 18, 1966 and the coldest temperature during the last 25 years (1984) was −41.7 °C (−43 °F) on February 5, 2007.

The highest temperature ever recorded in Winnipeg (since commencement of record-keeping in 1873) was 42.2 °C (108 °F) on July 11, 1936. The hottest temperature recorded in the past 25 years was 38.7 °C (102 °F) on August 6, 1988 and again on August 1, 1989. The highest humidex reading was 48°C on July 25, 2007.

All with low humidity. I would move somewhere with better weather. Bump that shit.

I used to put bags of same and gravel in the back of my ranger because the rear end was so light and it kept me on the road. Also if I went of the road I could use the salt and rocks to get out. Now I have 4x4 and snow rated tires. So hopefully I won't need to add weight.
