That Jeep easily has an additional 8" of width just from the tires sticking out.

Factory width the Wrangler is almost identical to the Tacoma at roughly 75". It does of course have much better approach and departure angles.

Honestly, the fullsize trucks at 80" are not that much bigger than the Tacoma on the outside, but seemingly huge on the inside.

I have a fullsize Bronco and it has no problem fitting on most of the trails around here (north GA). Part of that is due to it having a flat out silly turning radius for such a big truck.

My buddy had a 2016 Wrangler Unlimited. I was surprised at how close they were in width.

Inside my Bronco seems huge compared to it, though much of that is because a lot of the Jeep width is from fender flares and tires sticking out.

My 35" tires barely stick out past my fenders.

I think 12" is a lot . My Tacoma is 2 inches shorter and 6" narrower than my 98 dodge was and it fits in the garage much better with 2 vehicles . To be fair , the backup cam makes it super easy to backup to the right place to stop. With the Dodge I had to get out and look several times to get it right. The 6" narrower is night and day for walking between 2 vehicles , another 4 would be a mile compared to the Dodge.

Most of the pics just ended up how they are. Either because of lack of places to stand, or just trying to get everything into the frame

 People off-road stock Tacomas. People off-road civics for gods sake.

My step dad bought a brand new 4 door Jeep and we went straight to Glamis. It was really fun. Don't be so fast to turn down off-roading even in a stock vehicle.

I'm also comparing a gen 3 long bed to a 1st gen and I said it was less than a foot. A SB 3rd gen would be even closer in comparison. I think the difference in length between a SB and LB 3rd gen is only 9 inches.

Bottom line, the new Taco is plenty manuverable on the trail.

I feel when saying off road its to much of a large spectrum.
There's many different types of 'off roading'
    Could be trails
    could be rock crawling
    could be mud pits
    could just be basic overlanding
    could be logging roads etc

I figure the tacoma is great for overlanding and average trails.
rock crawling maybe a bit too big
    mud pits...meh works but whatever.

depends on what type of wheeling I guess.
I'm looking more for an overlanding rig some trails, so tacoma is perfect.

Serious question, what's overlanding? Just riding around in the field?
