Do you really need Blind Spot Monitor or Rear Cross Traffic Alert on a DCLB?

While visiting the dealer to book my red access cab off road taco, I saw a DBLC quicksand that is making this decision harder. The price is almost the same since the DCLB does not have Blind Spot Monitor with the Rear Cross Traffic Alert (aka Premium & Technology Package). I am an experience driver and really don't see the need for it, however on a long truck, I don't know. I think I should be REALLY fine for now.

Thoughts? Do you guys use it at all?

    EDIT: DCLB :p

All you need is side mirrors and back up cam. i have dclb with a cap and im fine. my opinion is people have been driving longer trucks forever, all these new electronics are just future problems, and electrical issues usually cost more... hell i prefer roll up windows :D

What is dblc? Do you mean dclb double cab long bed? Anyways the blind spot sensors and rear cross traffic alert come in handy more then you think. Just get a double cab long bed with with everything :p

BSM is ok, but I don't trust it. The rear cross traffic alert is awesome though. Picks up people walking too. I always look back but the other night I missed seeing someone and started backing up. The cross traffic alert picked up the guy and I stopped. Also picked him up before he showed up on the rear camera.

I would like to point out that I love the long bed. I have been on a few trips already and love how I can pack it up. I did come from a Jeep Liberty though, so any vehicle is better that what I had.

Isn't that the story of life buddy. I'm trying to get some input from existing owners to make an informed decision. After all it's 42k of my money! But thanks for that valuable input.

I like both and utilize them frequently. The rear cross traffic alert picks cars up from shockingly far away.

I still look when I change lanes but it is nice to have a reminder with BSM. The parking sensors combined with the backup camera make parking in tight spots easy. By far the best feature is the cross traffic alert though.

You won't know how much you really need it until it saves you from an incident.

You don't say where you live, but the dual zone climate control and heated seats (also part of the package) are more important to me than the Blind Spot Monitor with the Rear Cross Traffic Alert here in NY.

Longbed with no additional tech, I get along just fine. I added $5 fisheye mirrors to the side mirrors to help with blindspots.

BSM and Cross Traffic Alerts are intended to supplement proper driving habits and procedures. The minute you decide to rely on them instead of using your mirrors and swiveling you head about then you have officially become part of the problem.
I ordered my truck with them, mostly because it came in the package.

I got my truck off the lot with every option available including jbl, now that I have all these features I would do it again without question. I am a very experienced driver that has driven many cars, small and large. I have also had many hours on a track which I think has increased my awareness but it's nice to have that extra reassurance once backing up. I have a family also which influenced these options. These options are becoming standard on many vehicles today, this might also help with resale down the road. I think it's well worth the extra money. The best drivers in the world make mistakes. Why not get a little help.
