fluid from NASA isn't gonna help when your TOB takes a dump and you know it's gonna sometime sooner or later, the auto is boring to drive but at least i know i wont have to drop the trans anytime soon to fix a defect, i have a MT AWD car in the garage for when i feel the need to get my manhood back and shift gears

That is kind of what I would like to do, but unfortunately I'm not really at a point right now where it's practical for me to have more than one vehicle.

ETA: What car do you have?

Nice GC8, I've had 5 subies over the years (one outback, rest impreza's)...gotta love Subaru AWD.

Probably hit or miss between Taco's, it worked wonders in my Evo and Elise. From my understanding the Tacoma 6MT needs the PPM sleeve and TOB to fix its jerky behavior. I honestly think my '90 Reg Cab 4x4 shifted smoother.

I would be willing to bet that the engineer that designed the 6 speed spent his or her childhood riding the short bus.

Absolutely do not regret buying my 6-speed. I love it, and couldn't imagine driving an automatic as a DD. It gets a bad wrap, but it's been good to me thus far.

Maybe I'm wierd but I look forward to driving my 6 spd manual Tacoma
I also live and work in Washington, DC which is notorious for bad traffic.
Sure, I'd like the 6th gear to be taller but it's not that big of an issue with me.

I love manuals. Whether they're in a car, sports car or truck, manuals are fun to drive. The Tacoma's 6 spd isn't nearly as difficult to use as some people have made it out to be.

Over the years i've owned and driven many cars and trucks with manuals. Many years ago my work truck was a '83 3 spd manual Chevrolet Suburban. If you think the Tacoma's 6 spd manual is rough..............

Not much on the 07 yet. 18 is gone, but was a greata truck. TRD Pro grill, Gator FX3, Homelink mirror, Black out badges & exhaust tip, Remote start. Future TRD exhaust, skid plate.
No regrets. Wouldn't have an auto. It's how I roll.

Out of 6 cars I've owned (92 Mazda truck, 93 Ford Exploder, Saturn SC2, 95 Nissan Maxima, Pontiac Grand Prix, and my Taco) only 2 were auto's. The Maxima 5 speed was a trip to drive...loved that damn car. No matter how mean I was to it, it took the abuse like a champ.

Was that intentional or no? The R and D keys are right next to each other.

btw a while ago i said it it was slow to shift..it broke in after the first thousand miles or so... shifts nicer than any top loading high torque tranny has a right to now. i think youll find that most complaints come from fwd compact car drivers hoping for the same. saa high torque 6speed is kind of rough compared to an old broken in getrag cable shift.
