When it was new I washed it like 2 times a month by hand. Now it's maybe twice a year :anonymous:

All the time. No scratches, no problems just wax the truck twice a year (hand wax not spray wax).

Mine lives in a garage. She gets a covered garage wash once a week, and a wax job about every month. Never, ever take it to a slap happy commercial car wash.

Yeah the brushed car wash will leave some scratches whether they are deep or not. If it's a light colored truck you'll barely notice them unless they're deep. Dark colored trucks will get all those little scratches. If you wanna get it washed and not scratch it up touchless is the best option. Not as good as hand washing as it will never get that thin film off but gives it a clean appearance.

I would wash dry wax buff etc with my 08 black sand pearl.
I also had a magic duster for dust during the day.
200k and a new frame she was clean!
    T-boned and totaled soon after.
cleanest one in the scrap yard!
Been the auto wash with brushes since for the most part.
I do hand wash a few times during summer both mine and the wife’s.

If you have time and enjoy it do it!
If you don’t do the auto wash that misses spots!

Spinning truck beaters :crapstorm: I never go near those things, here in New England those are just stone traps with all the gravel and other shit on the roads. I use the touchless to help get the heavy pollen and snow salt off my truck during the season. I just picked up my truck from the body shop with a nice new paint job on the drivers & passenger side, so it is going to be hand wash only lol.

I don't like auto car washes. I'd do the DIY spray (not the encrusted brushes!) if needed to get it clean-'er' while away from home.

I've never taken my other cars to car washes. The habit continues with the Taco.

Very fair question. I also appreciate that not everyone else is able to replicate my level of work on my truck. But to be fair, I also don't have some of the benefits that you guys likely enjoy; I am unmarried, I have no children, I have no girlfriend and unlikely to attract one, given that I am 62 years old. I do have some hobbies that I enjoy a lot, but I get to pick and choose what activity to partake in on any given weekday afternoon (I am still employed) or weekend. So, I make sure my truck gets an embarrassing amount of attention every week. Plus I have a bit of spare cash to spend on waxes and cleaning supplies.

In return, I never get laid, don't have the loving embrace of children or other family. No one is cooking my dinner on a daily basis and I have to clean my home and do my own laundry. So, I think it's all about what circumstances we find ourselves in. :).

That is an awful thing to have happened to you but at the same time hilarious!
    Thank you for sharing that:rofl:

and HELL no, for reasons like this and for all the grit that is left behind on those flappers that come into contact with your truck, no thank you.
    DIY or touchless:thumbsup:

You would have to see my truck, a car wash would probably cost me several hundred dollars! There are 4 grand total antennas! (ham radio and the truck radio).

    Nope. Never

Ceramic coated it myself and after that washing it is barely a chore.

No. They do a great job until they crack, break or completely take off one of your $500 dollar power/heated/turn signal/puddle light side mirrors. (also has auto-dim? Don't even ask)

That, and there's never a line of waiting vehicles at those places.... even with a big: "Free wash with fill-up" sign out front. (...and I'd add if there IS a line: It's because
some dope ran off the rails somehow and now they have shut down to drag it out of there.
