Do you think a Tacoma TRD OR could tow and stop this?

I saw a subaru outback towing a normal sized pontoon boat over the summer. It was struggling but I think it worked for them.

If it's anywhere near 2,000#s unloaded, that's heavy for just carrying camping gear. Sure you can tow it, but no need for all that dead weight.

This is my off-road trailer (originally built for a Jeep TJ I own). It has a 3500# axle and electric brakes. Loaded with camping gear and the tent it is an easy tow at 1100#s. Tows off-road just as easy.

I have had a service bed camping trailer stuck in my head for a while. I want it to work so bad and the price is right. This thing is 1.5 hours away so was wondering if it's worth the drive to go look or if I could get a "hell no" from anybody who had tried similar. Some of you have been very helpful. I have received just the right combination of support, tough love and general douchebaggery to make my decision clear.

Might think about building a trailer chassis using 2 x 3 tubing and a normal trailer axle with electric brakes. Then mount the service body on it and sell the back half frame setup to someone who needs a farm trailer.

You can make one work, just don’t use a truck frame, it’s way over kill which usually isn’t all that bad, but for a trailer it just adds way too much weight you don’t want, and for absolutely no gain, in fact it’s a hindrance. Where I live, there are literally 10~20 different trailer shops that would build you that chassis with correct axle and weight for around $1~1.5k then you just need a service bed to put on top (and cut as needed).
