    Depends what you want to define as a life-form. If you consider Micro organisms as a life form then yes, definatelly. Another thing, each star DOES NOT have a planet or planets revolving around them, some of them are just lone start with no planets. Actually there are only a few stars known to have planets around them. This is a debate that might last as long as the human race can survive.

    Personally, with the incomprehensible size and complexity of the universe, the probability of their not being other life out there is next to nothing.

    Absolutely I think life exists on other planets, all day long. I also think that this other life is evolving right along. Probably having abortions and gay marriages too. Yeah, uh huh.

    One question that science will never be able to answer is: "Why is it here."

    I totally agree, if they come, more an likely they WILL be hostile. Or they will use us to their advantage, such as making us their slaves, or use us in some way that will hurt us.
    We should stay low, and not make any "loud noises" to get anyone's (aliens) attention.
    But It's to late for that, we have been sending messages out into space since the early 1900's.

    It's cool to see this thread come back to life. :cool:

    OMG! You're so right! When I learned that we were shooting signals into space announcing our presence... I felt like that was the dumbest thing I had ever heard.

    Yes.

    N = R * fp * ne * fl * fi * fc * L

    Even with conservative estimates the Drake equation estimates dozens of intelligent, broadcasting (seeking communication like we humans) civilizations in the Milky Way alone.
