Tundra just had its best January sales figure, and that is when they started offering 4.99% APR, the correlation is strong

Probably what is keeping me in my Tacoma which is at 2.49 currently. I’ll look at a used Raptor or even a new truck at 4.99 doesn’t make sense. Don’t wanna tap into my money market to pay cash either when my truck is fine (albeit slow).

What's the value of a 4G Tacoma today? Is it worth the MSRP or $5k above or $5k below? I don't currently see much demand for this new truck, so I wouldn't even pay MSRP for one right now. Half ton domestics, Tundras, and Ridgelines are all discounted and rusting away on dealer lots.

You don’t see much demand for this new truck…that must be why they’re languishing on dealer lots

Paying a significant MSRP increase for a new Tacoma within an uncertain new & used market while Tundras are aggressively being discounted at the same dealership is gambling. Throwing cash at distributor add-ons, markups, and financing at 8+ points also throws away future resale/trade equity, which is a big reason we buy Tacomas in the first place.

Any current vehicle shortages from Toyota are by their own design, so no reason to lay down a deposit for an ambiguous truck build and vague final price. Just wait until there are plenty at dealerships, walk the lot, pick a trim/color, let dealerships compete for your money, pay under sticker. As a bonus, you’ll also finance it under current rates. Same good truck, much more money for mods.

4.99% today is equivalent to 0% 2 years ago, it's a great rate, but yes if you are content with your Tacoma with 2.49% no point trading it in. I just got mine tuned it's a rocket ship now compared to stock

I got 2.49% for 48 months through Lexus financial on the GX's I bought. It was a special rate for clearing out the old model GX.

I did a 5 year lease on my '19 Taco, 40K sticker price, buyout was 22K at end of lease (should have taken it). I just picked up my new '24 Taco at 50K, 3 year lease and the buyout at end of lease is 35K.

Tacos have amazing resale value, I was literally 65K over on miles on my '19 lease and they didn't even blink when I turned it in, saying they could recoup the costs. I also needed new brakes, new tires and had quite a few dings. You should never have to worry about resale value, unless you overpaid like I did on my current one :)

That was a stupid video just like the guy who took has 100k cybertruck to the and only got offered 70k. There is just simply not enough data yet to come up with an accurate price so they got low ball offer.

I personally think that they will depreciate by over 100k within the first year of ownership, much like certain trims of the Porsche Taycan.

Which will be really interesting considering that the Tacoma only costs 45-50k to begin with.

I watch TFL videos for entertainment (like drag racing a Tacoma). Nobody in their right mind takes a 4 day old truck to a lot and says “how much will you give me for it”.

Huh? Where I live there are none on the lots. The dealer website shows 7 in stock but if you actually walk the lot they don't exist. I asked why and the salesman said they were all pre-sold. A second dealer in my area has 1 in stock....because it is a TRD sport 4x2 6 foot bed which nobody wants. If you are looking at websites to make your assessment which you must be doing because I know your not visiting dealer lots nationwide or you would find that your sales assessment is wrong.
