Just got back from a trip where I wheeled my DD about to the limit of the current setup without incurring any body damage. Only upgrades (besides being TRD Offroad and recovery gear) that affect capability right now are 235/85R16 Duratracs.

Tried to get from Moab to Indian Creek where my camp setup was via the Lockhart Basin trail. I got stopped by the last real obstacle. A steep loose hill with a technical entrance line and an exit line that required very precise wheel placement to clear a couple boulders. I did some stacking to make a go at it, then decided that without armor and a winch if things didn't work just right they would get real bad.

Being so far away from anything, wheeling solo, with a pregnant wife, I decided to back off and turn around and go the looong way back to camp.

Cleared a bunch of other obstacles on the way in (and out again) with just a few frame bumps and only 2 tires on the ground at one point. Coming from driving (a long time ago) an extremely built 86 on 34" tires and a YJ on 36" I was pretty happy with how far I got in a mostly stock Tacoma.

Time for some upgrades so I can go back next year.

My pass tire was in a rut/dropoff. The front fender WAS on the side of the hill. My sliders helped my fender not to get crushed. The rain earlier in the day softened the dirt, to where there was not even a scratch on the fender.

Try to off road as much as I can. Nothing real extreme, but enough to give the truck a work out. How else would you be able to get out and see beautiful scenery.

My buddies in Jeeps didn't expect me to follow but couldn't shake me! Calico is fun! M-F it's mall crawling 20 miles to work.
