I am a fan of German breeds, I have a mini schnauzer and my neighbor on one side has a Doberman and the neighbor on the other side has a golden.

Our two German dogs are the most well behaved dogs on the block both on and off leash. This could because we both put more time into our dogs then our other neighbor with the golden but its like a comedy show watching them try and get their dog to listen lol.

    Dobe life.
If u think a dobe is too unpredictable it's because you dont own one. No shame but if u owned one and trained one youd bet your life on him/her. Goldens are great, Dobie's are just greater imho. That's why I have 2 of them!

I have a Goldendoodle standard. A lot of characteristics of the golden retriever but NO SHEDDING!!! it’s awesome. He rides in my truck (black seats) no hair anywhere. Not even a year old yet and already 50lbs

1DF77F49-1299-4045-9ECB-477E6A5A4614.jpg Picking mine up tomorrow. My dad has had Dobermans fo the past 20 years and they have been awesome dogs. One thing about the ones he had is if they would get a sore they would constantly lick on it and would take forever to heal, a lot of times it would require some sort of intervention.

My European Doberman is 20 weeks old weighing 45lbs. We work one on one with a professional dog trainer. Your dobie pic looks like an American dobie. Similar dogs in many ways but not similar in lots of other things, just a preference. My boy is learning fast and protective to us, his family.
Either European or American they are strong, brave, loyal and aloof sometimes

you can get mad because mygreat aunt had one would let you pet it, turn around and it would nip you hard in the butt. Second story, guy i worked with had 2 dobies and a small toddler, he awoke a couple hours after getting home from mid shift to find the dobies killed the toddler. The guy kept the dobies..So while maybe an isolated case doesnt mean you will change my mind after the dead toddler.

Dalmatians man. Those things are...deranged...like 90% of the time. For the little dog category, the chihuahua is a pretty terrifying thing though.

I’ve had a Golden when I was younger and I currently have a Doberman. I can honestly say, I will never own another dog other than a Doberman with exception (possibly a Mal or Dutch). However with that said, the Doberman isn’t for everyone. It’s a high drive working dog that requires extensive training, exercise and care.

My dude is one of the smartest dudes I’ve come across. He was fully house broken by 10 weeks. Basic commands down by 3-4 months. Teaching him new commands only takes a few sessions until he picks it up. However, I spend almost 10 hours a week training and 15-20 hours a week doing physical activity with him. These dogs are also Velcro dogs, they CANNOT be kept outside alone. They require being around you and family consistently and are indoor dogs. These dogs aren’t meant to be lazy house dogs and if that’s what you’re looking for this isn’t the dog for you. These dogs were also breed by Luis Doberman for protection, so they have natural instincts to protect their people and family. I have some bite work with my dog and he will protect me and family. He has caught people on our property and has engaged these people on our property. Don’t confuse confidence with aggression. He’s my best friend and I love this dog more than I love most of my family.

I have raised Dobermans for years, best breed of any dog I have ever had in my opinion but I only have 1 left. My wife does want another Golden though and at some point when my last Dobie passes I will get her another Golden, the last one she had was a very good dog as well. We also have a Havanese right now.

I voted Doberman only if you have done the research. As many people do, I always “thought” the Doberman was a vicious, uncontrollable dog due to hearsay/rumor. Spend a day with one, you will be hooked.

I wanted a Doberman for our family member, but I didn’t have 100% buy in from my family, weather conditions and environment pretty much eliminated this choice (and a great deal of other breads).

I don’t think weather should factor in getting a Doberman. I’m part of a Doberman forum and several members are from Alaska, Colorado, Minnesota and parts of Canada and the dogs do just fine.

I agree with what you said, but those members also most likely don’t have their dogs out in the elements for extended periods of time. We normally don’t as well, but there is a chance.

My dogs are indoor family members 98% of the time due to someone always being at home. It’s the 2% I get worried about. I felt so bad about the weather this last Wednesday, I took my boy into work with me due to extended periods of 16* weather, 40-60 mph winds for 14 hours minimal with snow blowing.

I have had all males but the one I have now is the same way, in fact he doesn't get out of my sight he is the clingiest dog I have ever had. I never have to worry about him running off and he is an excellent working dog that responds extremely well to commands
