I am brand new to the Taco game. I just drove home my dream truck, 2019 TRDOF last week. I have been reading pages and pages of threads and what not all over the internet. I have found people that Rave about the Bilstien 5100's and I have found that the Dobinson is a decent competator. I clearly have ZERO experience and I'm looking for some first hand experience.

I only want to go 2.0 inches so I don't have to mess with the geometry of the TSS system or the driveline. I'd love to hear about experiences and see some pics of peoples rigs. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!!

Welcome to the TW, there is a ton of great into in here already, just use the search function. A good start would be to talk to one of the vendors on here,@Headstrong , or @Wheeler's Off-Road Inc. Have fun, and enjoy.

Have you looked at Bilstein 6112’s with 5160’s and 3 leaf aal in the rear? Just installed mine and it rides better than stock.

I have had the 5100s & the 5160s and feel the Dobinsons are a lot better ride quality both at the mall and trails.

I went with 5100s and OME springs, as the Dobinsons were brand new when I did my lift. Truck rides awesome AND 5100s give you a lifetime warranty (which got me 4 free shocks on my last truck after the Bilsteins started weeping after 80K miles). I'm sure you'll be happy with either, and I have no personal experience with Dobinsons. Just throwing my opinion out there.

With the 6112's I've seen they are softer than the 5100's. If i decide to run a new bumper on the front should I resort to the stiffer shock or is the spring itself more useful for balancing weight?

I believe they recommend a 650 lbs spring swap for additional weight.

    Lucky!

My rear 5100's leaked at under 10K and they wouldn't warranty them. I was told "a little seepage is normal".

I put dobinsons on my wife’s 17 4 runner and have been happy with the ride quality.

Loving my Dobinson’s suspension. Was planning to shell out for Kings but the shop recommended these as a daily driver alternative. I’m happy I listened. I’m not bombing down wash boards at 50 but I can do it comfortably at 25-30 now. Can’t speak to the billies but the past 3k miles have been quite enjoyable. I should have gotten black coils but I do love the original teal.

Man thats a great looking truck, I have the same Color and I like the tiny teal peaking through. Looks "Aftermarket" ya know? Can you comment on the feel of the ride on and off road compared to the stock suspension? And did you go 2 inch or 3 inch lift?

With the new tires it doesn’t peak as much lol. I went with a 3inch front 2 in the rear. Stock suspension I was never happy with off road. It get very jarring when I hit bumps and the truck would shake. With the dobinson’s, I did go with a stiffer front coil so the nose dive during braking is gone. Can handle higher speed turning better. On an unpaved road I usually go to for a quick trail rung I was able to go around 10-15 mph on the stock and can comfortably go 25-30 now. I could probably go a little faster if I wanted to. It is a plus that these do come with built in shock boots to keep the dirt/dust accumulation down on the shock shafts.
