Wondering if someone can help figure out the parts for the rear shock , it came with 4 bushing sleeves I’m assuming you find the best fitting one and that goes in the rear shock and the fender washers and that all goes in the lower shock mount? Sorry for the stupid question but I’ve watched a ton of install vids and none have this sleeve as part of the kit

    Thanks for any help

I didn't use any of the extra provided hardware. I just put the shock in the lower shock mount and put the factory shock bolt back through.

Just match washers to the originals and use a bushing sleeve if the bushing isn't a snug fit on the stud

Thanks Mike! The Dobinson's springs will outflex the length of the shock! Going to purchase a u-bolt flip kit and a taller bumpstop as well.

I drove slow, as to not damage the shock, it lifted my rear tire off the ground.

Here's a good example of the different color combinations of teal, black or red coils with the yellow or black struts.

This has gotten me very interested, was just about to pull the trigger on a Old Man EMU kit and started seeing the horror stories with the newer generation of leaf packs.

Just trying to figure out what’s best for me. It’s a 2017 TRD OR dcsb with tired suspension (71k) I’ll be running 285s with 16x8 0 offset wheels. Truck is pretty loaded during the summer months with a mid height rack and a rtt in the summer. Trips will be loaded with camping gear.

This is what I put together. Not sure if I need to go a little heavier on the leaf or not. A leveled ride when loaded and a rake when unloaded I don’t mind.

    Any inputs?

Hey man. Yeah, here's a good option for you without the drama of noises in some other brands.

Do you have a front bumper or winch? Otherwise those front coils would be too much for you. The C59-314 with GS59-220's are pretty popular on the newer taco's for 3" front lift, and add some UCA's for the best wheel alignment and driving in the front. You don't need Dobinsons UCA's necessarily, but you will need UCA's for a 3" front lift.

I would suggest the L59-111-R rear leaf springs, the next step up from what you selected, due to the projected weight. If it stays empty most of the year though, you could always remove a leaf for less lift and load support for when you don't need it.

By "horror stories with the leaf packs" do you mean that Dakars squeak a little? I've heard endless complaints about that as well, but the guys with Dakars will tell you that theirs can drive to Mars and back (and after wheeling in a 2nd Gen Trail limo with OME stuff... boy howdy, its capable)

Legit question for you, @Crikeymike , what goes into the Dobinsons springs that makes them stand out?

I spent all weekend wheeling and have heard 600 different reasons to buy 600 different brands. Not in a hurry, but definitely curious (about the springs)

I like to add a hybrid type this fall with a synthetic lined winch. Upper control arms I was gonna do this summer. Thanks for the quick reply, was going to pm you directly but figure I’ll post here. Still have some reading to do on this thread.

I run the cs packs on my 1st gen and they are awesome. I’m seeing some are having issues with the leafs rubbing in the shackles. Not looking at doing shackle flip and all that stuff on such a new truck.

Give it overnight and people that have them from this thread can chime in with their thoughts and if they like them or not. @cubie just posted his inferno Tacoma pics here recently.

Here are a few quick points.
    1. There are 3 different full leaf pack options to suit different weights.
    2. No one else offers an off-the-shelf super heavy spring (112R's) like Dobinsons does, setting us apart for the heavy set Tacoma's.
    3. They don't have design flaws that lead them to squeak and have metal on metal contact.
    4. I think they're priced very well against the other options out there.
    5. And most important - leaf springs have been around for ever, they aren't really that hard to make and design to work properly, so those that get it wrong really doesn't make sense. They have to support the weight of a vehicle and any load put on them and maintain a certain height. They have to be able to flex properly for offroad use. They need not make any noise. But leaf springs are also full of friction, unlike a coil spring, so they can require cleaning and maintenance (greasing) depending how and where they're used.

Thanks brotha, but it's still just kinda plain jane to me compared to what I want to do to it! It is also my daily driver too, so I have to keep that in mind.
