So I have a question.. i already know I want/need a snorkel. Im just trying to find the best application that works for me. The three im back and forth with is the airflow, ARB, and of course the dobinson. ARB states "ARMAX outperforms the CFM flow of other brand Tacoma application snorkels by 10%." Is there any truth in that? Documents to provide that? ARB and Dobinson side by side comparison one smaller than the other?

Dobinson is dimensionally smaller, but no impact to my truck's performance has been observed. Same for guys with ARB. They noticed no performance gain, at least the ones I met.

I definitely didn't notice any performance changes after installing the snorkel. Sounds the same, feels the same. Just looks different. Several other guys with snorkels I've met say they got better gas mileage and more engine noise afterwards, but I haven't noticed any of this magic.

Is anyone running a prefilter on these? Really thinking about picking one up!

I just installed mine recently and it went fairly well. I’m very happy with how it looks.

Fitting the rubber joining piece inside the fender and getting it through the hole into the engine bay and joining everything took quite a bit of wrestling but it all worked out.
The install instructions didn’t say when and what to use the recommended gasket sealant on so you just have to put it where it makes sense.
Usually when a product says it’s a 3 hr install, I know it will take a loser like me the entire day with five trips to the nearest hardware store . I didn’t realize a 4.5inch hole saw and drill step bits was going to cost me another $120.

How do you prevent water from going inside the snorkel like when it rains??

There are drain holes in the factory airbox. I’ve had no issues with water sitting inside after a heavy rain.

Looks good Mike.....nice work. A TRD emblem molded into the snorkel would add at least 10-15 HP!

Then finagling it through the large opening made that part of the install a breeze. Probably took two or three minutes to snake it through. I fought it for a half hour before going this route.

    * Semi pro tip, start the duct tape a little before the scrunching wrestling match.
