Curious what people think about returning leaf springs that showed up with rust on them. My biggest concern is that there is actually rust under the paint on multiple leaves and it flakes off easily with just my fingernail.

There is also rust coming from between the leaves (might squeak if left alone?):

And the anti-squeak pads are a bit worse for wear (I heard ARB is good about sending replacements of these, perhaps Dobinsons would too but I haven't asked specifically):

The paint in general is pretty beat up which was somewhat expected based on how they ship them, but what that revealed overall was a poor quality paint job overall. The places that were wrapped in carboard and plastic wrap had chipped paint under them too, which I thought was a bit odd. It kinda seems like they know they get beat up in transit so they don't even try

So, here are my options as I see them:

    1. Return leaf springs as-is, they are apparently not able to replace them for a few months because they are out of stock so they are only offering a refund at this time.
      1. Purchase Deavers Expedition pack at greater expense
      2. Purchase OME with a second overload leaf (I have a four wheel camper that is 800 lbs dry)
      3. Reach out to Boise Spring Works or a local spring company for a custom set. (guessing this is the priciest option, but could be on par with Deaver expedition set)
    2. Disassemble strip and re paint the leaf springs and then reassemble and install (huge time sink for something that should've come with no rust in my opinion)
      1. request further discount and confirmation that warranty is still valid
    3. Put them on as is and hope for the best. Maybe spray some chain wax or silicone spray on them to slow the rust down?

What do you all think, any other options I missed? Interested to hear what you all think.

Some yes, just surface. I wire wheeled though before I sprayed.

Mine came with slight chipping and a little minor rust from shipping, but I hit the spring packs with a rough grit sanding block and applied some spray paint. Good to go.
