Does 3rd Gen roll up tonneau cover work on 2nd gen?

Are the beds the same size? I know for a fact that the softoppers are interchangeable but can anyone confirm roll up tonneau cover? Thanks team!

 

No, the length of the bed from well to well is different.

 

They actually measure the same in dimensions. Rail to rail, rail mounting surface to other, and inside bed LxW is identical. Found the only difference is the plastic side rails on 2nd gen don't create a level surface with the tailgate and front towards cab unless you remove the plastic sides.

 

Why doesn't 2nd gen covers fit 3rd gen then? I actually tried to put a 2nd gen cover (it wasn't a roll up) onto mine but there was a 3-4 inch overlap where the weatherstripping was hitting the tailgate. So it was too long. Supposedly, that cover fit the 2nd gen but honestly I never saw it installed so I wouldn't know. Maybe the guy was just trying to sell it and lied? Either way it wouldn't fit my truck.
