Depends on the circumstances. The lift I had on my old truck saved me in the accident. I'm positive that if my truck was stock I would have been hurt much worse.

Lifting, no. What will, if yours doesn't have one already is a tow hitch. Tying the rear frame together with a receiver will make impacts from the rear easier to handle.

Should the person in the car in front of you that would have unknowingly gotten slammed into instead of you learn defensive driving too? What's with all these idiots on the road getting rear ended by other people not paying attention anyway, learn how to avoid other peoples mistakes people!

so you saying it is better for the op to get super wide 35" and stick with stock height? :p

op you should just weld a 2" thick plate of steel on the front and back of the truck or mount guns all over the place.

Maybe I am reading this wrong but it would appear that you are calling me a idiot for being rear ended at a red light by a fellow texting on hi blackberry. If that is the case screw you! If not just ignore this. Sometimes things are out of ones control.

Safer to impacts, likely. Less safe from rollovers and braking performance.

A small car would likely crumple under the bed of my truck. Transmitting less force to me .

Reminds me of the "Tombstone" before someone rear ends you just drop it and let them hit that instead. lol

that axle is pretty sick though. truck, no.

and that truck is hella safe you wouldnt have to worry about getting rear ended cuz they would hit the tires. and you wouldnt be able to rear end anyone...you'd just go over them and flip or do something else even moar epic.
