I drink diet root beer. ONLY because I like the taste better than non-diet root beer.

I’m pretty sure I liked everyone’s weird quirk on this thread but if I haven’t, let me know... A weird quirk I have in this weird quirk thread.

A&W is good but has no caffeine so whats the point...Barqs has caffeine so it wins my vote when I feel like having a root beer.

Another one of my quirks...cannot stand the smell of root beer, diet or otherwise. And cooked liver, dunno which is worse.

I refuse to poop and pee at the same time. I must first pee standing, then sit to poop.

I count syllables by grinding my teeth together with each one. Used to bother me but now it’s just subconscious.
Not sure when it started but it actually helped me in school.

I do the same with my volume, even numbers or by fives only.

I also juggle/spin/whatever a pen/pencil/short aluminum bar along my fingers as a nervous habit to keep myself from possibly scratching at my skin as a nervous habit. I count the times it switches fingers and try to keep a rhythm going.

OK, stumbled on this thread so it looks like I need to chime in.
    • Compulsive about tardiness
      • 10-15 minutes early = on time
      • On time = late
      • Late = wasting everyone's time, rude, arrogant, etc.
    • Always turn on an alarm before going to sleep for the night
      • I typically wake 1 hour to 10 minutes before alarm even if I changed the time
      • I have heard the alarm sound on my phone twice since choosing it almost 2 years ago
    • Locks need to be locked
      • Both deadbolt and knob, locking only 1 is ass'ing things, why waste effort?
      • I must check every external door lock prior to sleeping
      • Typically get out of bed to check again as I start to dose off
      • Check all vehicles in drive are locked prior to locking front door
      • Even if you just got out and locked it minutes ago
    • ALWAYS cross tighten fasteners... no matter item being fastened.. ALWAYS
    • Pee before laying down to sleep even for naps
    • Pee, brush teeth, and wash hands & face when getting out of bed.. even if only slept for a few minutes
    • ALL dishes must go through dish washer
      • 100% of them
      • They go from sink to dishwasher no stops in between
      • If it is not dishwasher safe throw it away
      • Smoker, grill, and cast iron are the ONLY exceptions
    • When "Doing dishes"
      • All counters and stove should be wiped clean before touching clean dishes
      • Clean dishes go straight to "away"
      • Clean dishes should not touch counter or any other surface on the way
      • Wash hands before touching clean dishes
    • New clothes MUST be washed before wearing
    • Dry clean only are the only exception - avoid buying at all cost
    • Must carry items:
      • ALWAYS carry a knife - only exclude where required by law
      • Hearing aid batteries
      • Pain meds (Prescription)
      • Imodium
      • Tylenol
      • Ibuprofen
      • Vicks inhaler
      • Wallet
      • Gun - where legal (CCW permitted)
      • Phone
      • Keys
    • Every intersection check right, left, right, left, BEFORE entering intersection - even if as a passenger
    • Must have hand on keys when locking doors
      • I have locked keys in vehicle twice
        • Once wind blew door shut while truck was running and being loaded
          • I turn off truck and shut doors unlocked, keys in hand, before loading now
        • Once I locked and shut door myself
            • That was high school over 30 years ago
    • Where possible use dishes when eating
      • Plates, utensils, etc.
      • Napkins are NOT dishes
    • Electronic files must be saved at least twice before closing file
    • "Off" switches point down
      • If not remove from wall flip it over and put it back in
I am sure there are a few other things that did not come to mind.

it's hard for me to buy an odd number of most things at the grocery store, like canned goods. I have to get 2, 4, or 6 of something, rarely 1 or 3, unless it's things like a gallon of milk or a dozen eggs.
Also, I have to straighten out the grocery carts in the cart corrals, since people can't seem to get them in there correctly.

But how do you pronounce them?

    YO PULLOUT GAME WEAK!

I'm totally in agreement on the volume thing.

    My "things":

I like all the light switches to be pointing down when off. My kitchen has a switch on either side and it bugs the shit outta me because they are opposed. I have gone as far as re-installing one switch upside down to fix this issue.

I do not like my back to doors, ever. I will change which side of the bed I sleep on when I move if it is different than where I moved from so that I am facing the door.

I eat one item of food at a time on my plate. No items may touch.

I have learned to accept but am still bugged if I order the same thing as someone else when out to eat.

I mark my pens with a wrap of yellow electrical tape. I only use Pilot G2 .07 pens in black and red, if at all possible. I have called out people for having one of my pens. I also usually have my own pen everywhere.

Lastly, I eat lasagna in a "frighteningly surgical" manner (words of a surgeon I dated): eat cheese on top, use fork like scalpel and cut noodle layer into quadrants, eat noodle quadrants, eat meat/cheese filling, repeat noodle procedure, all the way to the bottom.
