I'm looking to purchase a set of BFG KO2 in 265/75/16. This size is only made in an E, i'm concerned a 10 ply tire may ride too rough on a truck like the Tacoma and don't want to have too rough of a ride daily driving it. Does anybody else run an E rated tire? How does it ride?

Lots of us run E rated and I won't lie, they are pretty rough especially if you are used to softer/lighter tires.

The compromise (for me) is that they are much, much more able to withstand abuse offroad than a lighter load rated tire. Especially on sharp rocks

If you don't plan on doing any moderate to heavy offroading, I would consider a different tire to get a C rated one instead.

E rated MTs on my truck and rides really smooth. Was pleasantly surprised, as I was expecting a much harsher ride.

Upgraded from a C load all terrain / mud terrain hybrid to the E load full MT and can barely tell the difference other than the weight.

Daily driving is city driving primarily. I also put in a good amount of highway driving for weekend trips

Do keep in mind that this is something that is very subjective and will vary greatly from joe to joe.

Now that I remember, I did meet a young gentleman with a TRD PRO with E rated KO2s, that complained about how harsh his ride was.

City driving the E rated are no big deal in my opinion. Freeway bothered me. Unless you really need the extra plys, I’d recommend C.

For comparison sake, I'm currently running Cooper Adventurer 265/60/16 that came on the truck when I bought it last year, they're not a great tire off road, but they're comfortable, i suspect the BFG will feel quite a bit different.

I have the C rated and it is more than enough. The E rated are really more for the HD trucks and or if you Rock Crawl it has more protection

This was my thought process when buying my C Load Duratracs. For me, they are the cats meow! It's the Goodyear tire Toyota should have put on an Off Road Taco, not a stupid Kevlar "Highway tire".

How do you like the duratracs? Thats another one i'm considering. Only complaints i've heard are they can be noisy when they start to wear and uneven wear, have you had those problems?

Is yours a sport or an off road? If sport, I’d say, no E load. If OR, I say go for it.

I'm in a OR, are you referencing suspension differences between the sport and OR?

265/75/16 KO2s, SR5 Grille, TRD Pro skid plate, Husky X-Act Contour floor mats, Carhartt front seat covers, de-stickered, partially de-badged, Bilstein 5100s with one inch rear block
I have E rated KO2s in 265/75/16 and really like them. They are quiet and ride good. I was thinking of getting 17 inch wheels so I could get some load C KO2s, but I think I will just stick with the E rated in the long run.

Falken AT3/Ws come in SL rated which is like a P rating. They are not gonna do well off road but they quiet and comfortable on road.
