Not much on the bling-bling my self; don't mind the polished metal look with clear coat or a silver metallic paint in the right places. Chrome is much more durable over the long haul from rock chips and scratches than painted surfaces that are handled a lot which will eventually fade.

I actually don't mind the chrome on most Tacoma colors. BUT, my exception is chrome on a black Tacoma. It looks like a thug-mobile and looks much better color-matched or painted some black color (flat, satin, etc.)

Hands down, the best color match scheme is super white Tacos. They look awesome with a white grille surround and bumper.

I have grown to really like the chrome on my Pyrite though. Not a fan of full color-matched Pyrite trucks. And I contemplated painting my grille black but decided not to. I saw another member who did that and it looked like crap...like a dog face for a front end with a black nose.

Chrome is for old cars and Harleys. Not much use for it in off roading...

Have you ever seen people who add chrome edge accent strips to their Tacoma? Yeeeeesh it looks awful. I can't find a picture but it is basically a thin line/strip of adhesive chrome that goes at every body edge of the truck.

Beyond me how a body part being painted or chrome would effect anything to do with offroading but whatever

There is no chrome on any metal body parts on a 2nd gen , only on plastic parts so I'm not too worried about rust

OME all around. SPC UCA. This and that.
I just color matched my chrome grill and plan to have the rear bumper powder coated black by the prison, probably cost me $30. Not a fan of shiny chrome.
