Chrome in the rear, and braces up front. Your truck would have a hard time in high school.

I think it looks good. I love the contrast. I’m old and it reminds me of the quality bumpers decades ago.

Rockauto has some 3rd Gen rear covers in stock, left and right, plain black unpainted about 60 bucks before shipping for the pair.

Definitely my first thing I do come spring time warm enough to wrench comfortably.

I never thought twice about my plastichrome bumper until seeing all the threads on TW. I’m fine with it, but I definitely understand why you’d want to mod it too.

Got replacements end caps for a total of $60 off partsgeek. They match the OR fender flares TRD Pro grill and back bumper perfectly. 20190918_162722.jpg 20190918_172031.jpg

You will be surprised how many of us don't even bother to think about this - we are buying the truck for it's functionality and reliability (as much as it is) and we really do not care about the chrome bumper caps :curls: We are trying to keep it simple ....

Judging aesthetics are simply opinions, so in the big scheme it means little.
I'm not a big fan of chrome generally, and especially dislike fake plastic chrome. It rates just barely above fake carbon fiber on the Inherently Ghey Scale

Meh even a standard replacement that ditches the hitch and that doesn't stick out 12" gets you quite a bit of clearance. If you plan on keeping the truck forever then might as well go the full nine but I don't plan on having it more than a few more years so I'd rather not cut. I'll get a lot more back when I can sell the steel bumper and swap an OEM back in.

I was ok with the chrome on my black truck. Don't care for it too much on my inferno orange truck.
But indifferent enough to change it up. Thankfully the original owner replaced the chrome grill with the black pro grill for me.

The chrome drove me crazy. It looks ok on every color but Quicksand. It was so bad on the truck. I immediately changed the bumper caps, OEM pro grille, and later the MesoJDM side blinkers.

for those of us of a certain vintage, we remember when Toyota pickups first started rolling around lifted with big tires and they were the only truck like that. We were bitten. Chrome front and back was part of the look.

Guys in here spending lots of money making their Toyota’s look like Fords or other. Lifted with chrome IS Toyota. You kids don’t even know.

I have a black truck and love the front bumper but the rear looks tacky with the chrome. So I put in some chrome colored inserts into the TACOMA letters on the tailgate to balance it out. It helps a little but I see some pictures on here I really need to look into.
