I use mine every time I drive at night, which is often.

If you decide to remove the switch all together let me know. A friend of mine (who uses his as well) is in the market for one.

I use mine all the time, I can't stand that bright ass dash in my face when I'm on some dark ass road in the middle of the night.

It's the kind of thing you rarely use, but when the time comes, you're oh so glad to have it. A couple hours into a drive on an empty freeway at night and those gauges look mighty bright, even with the amber hue. The ultragauge is a bad offender here, the screen will disappear in the daytime shadows if you set the minimum brightness to less than 6% or so, but at night it really needs to be 0%, and it's buried in menu options to turn it down so no easy on-the-freeway adjustments.

Just think, it could be like Honda's most retarded idea ever: put white, red, and blue LED-lit gauges in the car bright enough to see in sahara sunlight, then make the tripmeter reset button into a little knob (still in the same place as our Taco one is) and make that the dimmer.

If you see people driving a Honda and have half their arm through the steering wheel going down the highway, you'll know why.

I keep mine as low as I can and still read it. Hold over from night flying...I'm constantly turning down the illum in the cockpit to improve visibility outside of the helo.

I have mine dimmed to about 40%. Helps keep my eyes focused on the road. At full brightness, I think the dash is pretty bright.

This is how all my rides are. My gf hates it because she likes them bright. She adjusts the honda one, but not the tacoma one, probably because she never drives it.

The bright orange on my 09 is to bright for me on long highway stretches, especially when there's not much other traffic around. I turn it down then quite a bit, easier to see and easier on the eyes.

When I first got my Tacoma, I drove out of a gas station at night with my head lights off not realizing they were off because I thought my Dash being illuminated = lights on lol. I was used to have to turn my lights on to see my dash with my F150, so I thought they were already on... And Man I felt retarded at that moment.

On the Tacomas, what happens if you click the dimmer wheel all the way down? On my F-150, it puts the interior in dark mode, and cuts all interior lights, to include the dome lights, even when the doors are opened. I am hoping the Tacoma works the same way. That feature is nice when you need to have a door(s) open for extended times, and don't want to drain your battery. If it doesn't function this way on a Taco, is there another way to disable the lighting when a door is opened?
