Does anyone actually use their oem or oem-style roof rack?

I know they look pretty cool, but does anyone really use their oem or oem style roof rack?

 

Yes, but just for fishing rods at the moment. Eventually I'll get traction boards and throw them up there for my fishing trips.

 

i haul a couple 8' yaks around in the summer with it from time to time.

 

I do- but I will replace it someday.

 

If they made a Bike Mount for on top of it I would put my bike up there

I use mine to hold my lightbar

 

Who makes that Light Bar looks like it sits right on the windshield. I'm getting this one.

 

I made the mounts myself, and it's a cheap ebay lightbar

 

I add a Thule cross bar and attach a Thule Hullivator for my Kayak.

 

Waste of money,they are only rated at 35 lbs

 

I only paid $280 and installed myself and is rated at 100 lbs, I'm sure it'll handle more than that. This is 60 lbs of boards. Totally worth the money.

Uhmmm... extremely... absolutely, YES!

You can strap down 4 5-gallon gas cans, done so in emergencies more times than I can count. Ive put stacks of 18' 2x12 lumber, and anything else you can imagine. OEM roof rack, in my opinion is a must!

Tip...

If you buy a Harbour Freight 'bed extender' and install it upwards instead of outwards, it makes a 'T' the same height as OEM roof rack. So you can haul REALLY long items, you can go about 6' in front of the front cross member of OEM roof rack, then about another 4' past your draw tie.
