Does anyone actually use their oem or oem-style roof rack?

Curious... do you mean OEM bike mount? Why wouldn't a Thule or Yakima bike tray work?

I'm thinking of going with an aftermarket one. They look very similar to the oem ones for about 1/2 the price.
Especially if its mostly just for looks and/or occasional use.

    Thanks for the replies.

Nope. I installed it just cause I liked how it looked. Never really needed to use it the past 8 years since the longbed pretty much covers everything

Your lightbar setup looks good, what size of lightbar did you go with?

OME suspension, flippac, more to come...
I use mine all of the time -- mostly for hauling canoes around.

I like that they're fast to deploy and when not in use are more aerodynamic.

But, to be honest, I really don't like the look of them. My truck is too round or something, too plastic, and the OEM racks don't help...

Just go into your dealership and tell them you found a lower price online. They will
Match it. I got one for $280. The knockoffs have fitment issues and you really don't want these things to leak. The install was pretty straight forward with the instructions from the dealer.

The panel keeps my stock battery charged with the SnoMaster TR42 mounted in the bed that runs 24/7. The fridge has been running since around May or June.

Bought the truck new in june 2006, in july 2006, i paid $279 for my oem roof rack, in the parts dept. Installed it myself. If they are still the same price 10 years later.. i'd buy!!!! lol!

What other oen item can you purchase at the same price it was 10+ years ago?

All joking aside, the oem roof racks fit snug, match the truck, once you pull up the rubber strips you will see they bolt exactly in place, and they can hold a SERIOUS load with no issues.

I have loaded everything from lumber, to cans of fuel, no problems. I weigh 225lbs, i can get up there and stand or kneel on them, no prob. I think for once the oem version works the best :)
