It's easy to do the 400w anytime mod so it actually becomes a usable piece of equipment.

I modded mine and added outlets in the cab for charging camera batteries, running a laptop, etc. The one in the bed gets used for my Edgestar fridge while traveling and I've used it for things like a trouble light, coffee maker, Dremel tool, etc.

You should have someone drive you around while you stand in back and jam. Do parades. :D

With the newer more energy efficient tools and appliances, 400w is a lot more usable than it used to be.

Yup...I've used it to power my Meade telescope at times. Comes in handy for air compressors and power tools out at my folks ranch. Useful.

I purchased my taco wile living in Hawaii, blackouts were fairly common living on a military base. The plug was great for a lamp, phone chargers and could power a laptop and router at the same time. Better than nothing, but I haven't used it since moving back to the mainland.

I ran an extension cord from the bed, out the tailgate, zip tied it under the frame and poked it up through a grommet under the passengers seat to bring it into the cab. Far more useful in the cab.

I'd use one if I had one.

Just because you don't doesn't mean it's not useful.

The guy cooking on a road trip was awesome! :D

I've used mine a few times. I'd like to get a better inverter but I have to say having one in the bed of the truck has been convenient. Work light, Dremel charger, air compressor to inflate my air mattress.

I did the AC outlet in the cab mod and use it all the time. The AC outlet has two USB outlets as well.

So... Coffee pots and slow cookers and soldering irons ? Less than 400 watts?

The 400w anytime mod? Howdja doit?

And the outlet in the cab? Pick up from the bed transformer or put in a second transformer?

I have the so called heavy duty battery and alternator, good enough for heavy use of the outlet? How long is too long to use it with engine stopped?

I knew I shoulda stopped coming on TW. I smell another mod coming on!

When had needed to put new stringers on my boat trailer, there was no way of doing it with the boat still loaded (obviously). It went a lot faster using a power drill, especially one that wasn't battery operated.

I've used mine quite a few times:
Floodlight while skinning and processing a deer.
    Weed wacker at the camper.
    Radio.
    Inflate boat toys.
Sawzall to cut branches while clearing a trail.
    Shop-vac to clean the truck.
