Does anyone else think the TSS is straight TRASH?

My OEM meat gear came with a pair of light sensors and an on board interpreter that differentiates between objects, literally learning as it got used. But, one light sensor started off kind of faulty and misaligned ever so slightly. I thought it was just a cosmetic issue, but now the parallel sensor is getting worse at short distances. The auto-breaking reflex still seems to work, but I've seen a lot of examples in earlier models of this feature eventually failing.

Drama much? Everyone now a days wants nothing to do with driving, hence the 20 year olds that don't have or want a license, everyone looking for the self driving cars. Take the bus.

I love it, but it is not a "set it and forget about it" feature. The driver needs to adapt their driving style to make up for the shortcomings. I list some ways that I deal with it over here.

Works as advertised for me. Quite happy with it. Works fine stock as well as after I installed my OEM pro grill.

I never use cruise control and haven't even noticed my truck having lane departure warning or braking for me

    You learn as you go

when someone is turning off if you keep your foot on the gas it won’t apply the brakes.

I’ve only had two false positives and it was approaching a bridge across a highway mid day and it thought there was something there, shadows or something gave it a false positive.

the only part I don’t like is in hills with cruise on - and this happens with speed control cruise too - I can be going up a hill and it’ll drop to 4th in CC. Yet if I turn it off and do it myself I can keep it in 5th sometimes in 6th and maintain speed even gain speed. So it doesn’t need to hunt for gears - for some reason cruise control really likes to hunt the gears on hills. But same as above if I put my foot in the gas and take control up a hill it stays fine.

We can buy manual foot braking systems but unfortunately common sense is not for sale.

I've driving since 1966 and the only accident i ever had was from a distracted driver flying through a 4 way stop/intersection where i was hit broadside. I never had that bs back in the day, and was taught to drive defensively not rely on anything else to save your butt. Instead of teaching one to be a better driver, we now have all this bs to save drivers from themselves.

I drove for a living at a job for many years. 6 hours a day, 5-6 days a week for 20 years, so I have more hours of driving under my belt then the average person. I even had to pass a Smith driving test every year when I worked there.

This tech is to help, not to rely on 100%. It took me a few years to even use the back up camera in my wife’s vehicle. I’m just irritated at the people who think they are perfect drivers and look down on people who may use this technology to assist them. This technology is wonderful for a person who also can’t turn their heads around like an average person too, and yes I know someone like this.

People being distracted is bad, and these morons on their phones is getting worse also. It’s getting to the point where if a person is texting and driving, I think they should lose their license for a year.

My truck is lifted 6 inches. The TSS was calibrated and adjusted by the dealer. They did the lift brand new truck. It has the recall foam for the garnish. It works as designed. I only once have had weather cause a light on the dash and only once have had a BRAKE BRAKE BRAKE light come on that was false. And it didn't lock the brakes just slowed the truck slightly. It is what it is.... and works as far as I'm concerned. Get off your F ing phones and drive would be a better safety feature. you know who you are phone staring non driving folk.... :)

Good to know about the throttle.

Yeah I haven't felt a gear hunting issue like others have talked about EXCEPT when in cruise control. It will shoot up to 5k rpms just to make it up a tiny hill

Thats all and good for a handicap individual, i can agree they would benefit, but let them get this technology on their nickel. Call me selfish, but i'm tired for always paying more for the few that that are out there requiring this.

Love it for long trips. I set it to the closest setting (1 bar). Works great for me.

It’s not a “requirement” at all, this person did great without this for years, but it’s a help.
It’s a help for me also, and I like it.
If something is standard on something, you’re going to pay for it even if you don’t use it.
Do you use every single feature on your TV, cell phone, and other things you buy? Probably not.

I had it in a rental sedan and it was awesome. Adaptive cruise at least is freaking awesome. I just don’t like it applied in the Tacoma as much. I am happy to have it as standard. Lane keep is always off for me but adaptive cruise and forward warning is cool to have.
