Hi Folks, tacoma #3 here and the stereo on my 2021 blows. If I listen to anything reasonably loud the sound is not clear. It seems to happen left, right, front, rear so I know its not one speaker in particular. I have the radio that comes standard on the TRD sport. Anyone know a quick fix?

I'm amazed how crappy mine sounds. I have the premium package and you'd think they'd include a better sound system with that. Nope. Sound in my wife's Highlander is far superior.

Mine sounds fine to me (the JBL version) but anytime even a little bass come through in a song the damn door panels rattle like hell and it drives me nuts.

Toyota probably figured these truck cabs are so loud that stereo sound quality didn't need to be high on the list.

Did the tweeter upgrade, added an underseat powered 8" Sub. Sounds great!

Just do a search here you will find plenty of people dissatisfied with the sound quality . I swapped the tweeters to the subi tweets and did jbl aftermarket in the front doors and added a 8 inch sub behind the seat . Sounds good to me now . Replacing the rear door ones is a waste of money unless you run a amp to them .

Switching out the speakers to some Kicker DS Series speakers and the Subaru tweeter swap improved sound for me. Then I added an Alpine Powerpack amp to get more mid bass, as the headunit just doesn't have enough power to really drive even marginally better speaker like the entry level Kickers. I finally built a fibreglass sub box into the large rear pocket behind the rear seat and put a shallow mount 10" sub in there powered by a small monoblock sub amp. It isn't competition worthy but for about $500 Canadian and not a single factory wire cut, I am very happy with the result. You can improve the sound and keep the headunit. It just depends on how much you want to spend and get into.

I dropped the $95 and just ordered the Subaru tweeters. We'll see how that goes.

I’m adding kicker speakers in front doors, sound deadening and kicker key 200.4 amp for a start. The amp has a dsp with an auto eq that I hear helps quite a bit.

No. Part out the truck, I don’t want the stereo.

You guys are crazy, Tacoma's are perfect. If there was something with better sound quality available the engineers at Toyota would have installed it. OEM is always the best option.

Yeah the stock stereo stinks. I swapped out all the speakers and tweeters for pioneers, added a pioneer brick amp to power all the door speakers, and added a self powered pioneer subwoofer under the passenger seat.

How many XM stations do the 2021 get? My 2018 only goes to 200. My wife's BMW goes to 500. Kind irritates me that I pay for the full line up, but miss half of them. I really want to get the Korean station and the Joel Olsteen channel.

New stereos sure are way better then the stock ones I grew up with. I’m pretty sure our Nissan king cab came without a stereo.

Keep the stereo and the stock tweeters. Put very nice 2-way front door speakers in and you are done. Don’t worry about the back door speakers as they are throttled in power by the head unit anyway.

Spend the money on the front doors and leave the rest alone.

Don't expect miracles for tiny dash tweeters, but you will certainly be able to hear an improvement. Well worth the $95 and 30 minutes to swap them out.

Can't say I have any complaints about mine. That being said, I'm just used to it by now.
