Does anyone go solo camping?

I prefer camping by myself. Everyone enjoys camping differently and I would rather do things my own way (hike and read, that's it pretty much) than be subject to other people's expectations.

Fuck yes. 2 person sleeping bag, all to myself. Cooler full of meat and a shovel to dig the fire pit.

Planned a trip with 3 friends for my birthday next month.

Friend says he's cancelling because his granny having issues. However, this is in 3 weeks and he's a known flaker, so I'm not taking him at his word. I originally planned it with him and we decided to invite a 3rd. But since he's flaking, I rather not be alone with the 3rd.

I'm now going by myself. Should be fun. Happy birthday to me.

pretty much my solo camping setup:

 

Yup, I do solo trips and group trips with friends. Either way, a day spent camping in the rain or cold or heat is better than a day at work.

 

Camping alone =
Camping with Girlfriend =
Camping with up to 3 people =
Camping with >3 people =

All of my favorite trips have been solo.

Try working shift work or overseas for extended periods of time. Make plans months in advance with people to do stuff, get home and they flake on ya or say they cannot afford it. Use to drive me nuts, now i just tell people what i am doing and they can tag along and i make sure I bring everything anyways and go regardless.

This last camping trip though, half my shit got stolen out of my truck so i was the one missing this and that, was comical. But we made it work with copious amounts of beer and whiskey.

 

I'll take camping with my GSD any day over camping with people...

That said, camping with people I like is fine, too, so long as the group isn't very big...and someone doesn't invite some random fuckface who doesn't give a shit about the outdoors.

Almost as fun as movie theater on a sunday night by your self.... its amazing.

 

I run women off faster than a HIV case. I think I like camping alone, but simply wasn't aware of it.

 

Except way better because I don't have to listen to the sounds of people stuffing their faces with popcorn and candy all around me
