Are these newer or older? The light bar looks like an older style halo ring?

But I like the housing better, it has more depth to it and no eyelid.

I personally havent seen this style since recently, while ive seen the other still with the eyelid and shorter ring for over a year now. So newer style to me at least. And i still havent seen anyone post pics with this style(clear reflectors) on their truck yet either.

Subbed to hear results from piaa bulbs. I need the same light output or better compared to factory halogens for me to even consider buying these. They look awesome though

They are already 10x better than the factory lights with the basic bulbs, but I’ll post pics when I get them installed.

Hey @schecter517, is it easy to get your hands back there to change the bulbs without removing the housings from the truck? My PIAA bulbs will probably be here way before the replacement lights, so I'll probably just put them in the ones I have to see how they are.

Yea its not hard at all. The only thing I did to make it a little easier was remove the 2 10mm bolts holding the washer fluid bottle that way I can move it back a little to remove the dust cover and have more room for my hand. The same with the battery strap. Just to push the battery back a little. Other than that there is no need to remove the light housing. But you don't actually need to do any of that, you can remove the bulbs no problem, its just a little snug.

Finally got tired of them sitting on the dining room table and put mine in last night. Thankfully I can pull into the garage at work otherwise I'd be waiting a couple more months. Satisfied so far, everything works fine. I don't have any "before" light output shots, just as I was thinking about doing it one of the bulbs burned out.

I put in Philips H9 standard bulbs for now and might consider those PIAAs when it warms up a little.

EDIT: These were the TacomaBeast lights

Has anyone gotten them from pro tuning lab with the hids yet? I’m sure the hids are adequate at best, I would just run them until they die and replace them with a decent set. At least all the wiring would be there

This thread is about the ones sold by Tacomabeast specifically. The ones you're talking about w/HIDs aren't the same headlight housing. This thread is already confusing enough with some talking about the 3rd gen version & some talking about the 2nd gen version of the same housing given the minor differences. Let's not further confuse the topic by talking about an entirely different housing that is completely different from a different vendor. There are tons of threads talking about the various aftermarket headlight housings available for Tacomas.

IMO this is the first aftermarket headlight housing I've actually felt was well thought out and an improvement over the OEM design... assuming they hold up over the long haul. I installed mine and I love the look. If I'm being honest the light output is a bit "meh" but that's to be expected when I replaced retrofit 4500k HIDs with 45-watt starter/ballast packs. Other than light output and nighttime performance I love these headlights so far. Just need to find a way to make them perform better while still being reliable.

Here's what they look like in my truck. New TacomaBeast black on the passenger side (LOVE the daytime running LED bar. Looks amazing!) & OEM retrofits on the driver's side that were starting to get a big foggy. I was waiting until spring to pull them off and clean them up but when I saw these headlights, unlike all other aftermarket headlights I've seen, I was compelled to order them up. They have exactly everything I want in an aftermarket headlight housing and look current and classy. Most of the aftermarket housings look dated and trashy like they just wanted to throw on some halos or LEDs in some weird fashion. They looked cheap, basically. Not these. These are the first headlight I've seen that are subdued enough to almost be an OEM design while still giving a look of modern aesthetics that you find in today's vehicles instead of something designed 15 years ago.

    I digress...

If you really want to be a prick, nobody was talking your headlights either. Original question was about 12-15' Tacomas, and Protuninglab offers the exact headlight as tacaomabeast, but they offer it with HID's....

Then I stand corrected in two ways because I think this thread was merged with another... hence my confusion as to why we were talking across so many platforms and options.

In my defense, I have looked at ProTuningLabs several times for this exact housing in an HID version for the 2nd gens and haven't found it. My guess is that you are talking about the 3rd gens... hence the confusion when we merge several threads talking about several headlight housings from several vendors across several generations.

This is all I was trying to avoid. Confusion exactly like this. Not trying to be a prick so if you read it that way then that's on you.

I’m am interested if anyone got them from protuning labs also. They have the best shipping price as I live in Hawaii. They look to be the exact same head light. Actually they have both styles for sale.
