Got my 16 TRD OR DBLCB w/premium tech and JBL in quicksand at the end of Jan. So far I'm getting the shift delay from r to d when cold and sometimes it feels like it shifts hard when I hit the gas. Ill take it in soon as I only have 850 mi. on it. The gear hunting is present as well but hoping it learns as others have said. This being my first tacoma I only have my old Dakota to compare it to but i really love it so far.

Lez be honest: Most of their owners haven't figured out how to use that "internet thingy".

And based on what they're used to driving, their standards aren't very high.

I picked mine up last Saturday, and while I was initially "meh" and trying to avoid getting emotionally attached... It's growing on me, I'm learning more about it, and overall I really do like it. Once I make that emotional connection, I'll love it.

For us that live in the USA we have the right to free speech. So since wining and bitching is part of that freedom it is our right to partake of it, especially the people that have actually bought the truck. No one is being forced to read these postings. Now if we could actually get Toyota to read, listen and react to some of this stuff how great do you think the 2018 truck would be. Without so called whining and bitching sessions, the issues, real or perceived would continue for the next 10 years. 90% of this stuff would go away if Toyota did their job in just filling the truck with fluid and grease and put proper air pressure in the tires and glue on the hood before the customer receives his new truck. Is this really too much to ask for a $35,000 truck? The 2016 Tacoma is still a great truck and I would buy it again but I shouldn't be the one greasing the effen driveshaft the first weekend after buying the truck.

I love my new 2016 Tacoma DCSB SR5 4X4 although I wish I could cough up a few more grand for the TRD. It does ride quieter and smoother than my 2015. Everyone is saying their auto trans keeps gear hunting but I don't have that problem. Mine upshifts early and doesn't downshift until I give it a little more gas. I love the new look but I agree you have to let that big grill grow on you and it does. It reminds me of a whale with its mouth wide open eating plankton.

Cause my Tacoma is white n black with a big mouth, I thought about naming it Free Willy.

Maybe this is a Canadian exchange rate thing, trucks seem to always cost more up here.

Comparing my 2016 TRD Sport DCLB to my parents 2006 TRD Sport DCLB, they checked their paperwork and they were out the door at $42k compared to my $42.5k. Maybe Canada is weird, maybe they suck at negotiating, I'm not sure.

From an old guy who "bought my last truck" three trucks ago! I drove all brands of new 1/2 ton double cab trucks; F150 platinum, Chev Z71 LTZ, Dodge and Nissan, left the Tundra out because they have become bloated looking and butt ugly. I have owned several Toyotas, 1 Dodge, Fords, Chevrolets in the past. I have an'08 FJ and '00 Gen 1 Tacoma SR5 TRD, both bought new. I wanted to buy a full size this time around and got talked into driving the new Tacoma. I can honestly afford what I like. I was never in a Gen 2 or 3 Tacoma until my test drive and I looked at it out of curiosity. First, no pushrod v8s have the advantage of individual intake and exhaust came vvt, second I like the size. I do all my own work including tire rotations, all service etc. have my own shop and have not had a vehicle repaired by anybody else for the last 35 years. It fits in the garage better, tires and wheels are lighter, mileage is better. It has all the performance I need. Those of you worried about the transmission shifting too much should turn up the radio, put it on cruise and ignore it. You will notice it keeps the set speed impeccably, even down shifting downhill, a first for any cruise I have used previously. Non of my 7 previous Toyotas have had any drive train failures, some of my trucks had close to 300k on them and were excellent used vehicles that I would drive across the country.

One more point: If your local Toy dealers service department is anything like the two in my area, I trust Toyota Motor Company far more to get things right then the locals. All this crap about low trans fluid, dry U-joints, wind whistles make me laugh. An auto trans that is sensitive to how much oil being pumped around the system, temperature etc and holds more then 10 qts being found 1/2 quart low by the dealer service and causes slow shifting and slipping is bogus. The transmission has a hydraulic system with solenoid valves etc. that have to be energized and pressurized to shift, it will be slower when cold and can never operate at the speed of a computer, your truck will last longer if you are deliberate and patient and give the truck a chance to warm up before hammering.

I like driving and I like this truck very much. I bought it 1/31 and have 4500 miles on it.

I agree but I hope they do something about the LOUD engine when you accelerate. I guess I am a bot spoiled coming from a Gen 2.

Who gives a shit! It's ugly so I didn"t even look at it. Was going to get a 15 TRD but saw a pic of the 16, loved it and ordered mine in early August.

Canada's inflation hasnt been as robust as US.

Maybe a little of both, bad negotiating, and good negotiating on your part.

the total sales are closer then people think.

My main response to this post is that 99% of the issues are coming from the V6 AT with tow package owners........

I love my Toyota as much as the next guy, but go ahead and keep on drinking the Kool-Aid if you don't believe these are legitimate and documented issues. I trust any Global Corporation about as far as I can throw them regardless of who it is.
