This holds true in nearly any situation. Take the news media for instance.

I'm loving mine really no complaints. A lot more people will complain then complement the truck. Plus it is a first year new remake so a lot of people don't like the changes in the design becuase they aren't just used to it yet.

I still love the little truck but the 16 is so much more now. Amazed at how much they've come along in 12 years. When I compare my old 91 to my 04, they were pretty much the same trucks only the 04 had a back seat and extra doors. The 16 in comparision is something completely different.

I'm really enjoying my 2016 SR5 Double Cab. Best truck I've ever owned (Ford, GMC, and three Tacomas).

Love mine! No howling or any of those other common complaints. Sometimes I think there is a bit of engine surging at partial throttle around 2500-3000rpm, but that might just be the variable valve/cam/injector stuff and completely normal for this type of engine. It's hardly noticeable and just me being very nit picky ... it's a truck and drives great for one, and it hasn't let me down in any way so far. Honestly the blend of simple old-school features with new tech (bluetooth/Qi charger/Navigation) is a perfect fit for my mentality towards keeping vehicles simple so they last longer with fewer problems. I think it's a great vehicle for the price and you would be hard pressed to find anything else for around $30k that offers the same kind of capabilities (off-roading/versatility/reliability). Probably the only complaint that I can sympathize with people on is the gas mileage, but it's a truck so I really don't know what people are complaining about ... my last one got about 10mpg around town so this is definitely a step up for me

Love mine after 2 months. I get fine mileage, it's as comfortable as my wife's CRV and I think it looks good.

It just seems like that because they were recently the current model. Anyone driving a 10+ year old truck is likely going to drive it into the ground. Before too long the people left with second gens will be keeping them to their death too, as the people who buy a new truck every 3-5 years will be into gen 3.

I love my truck even with having a few problems. I have always said the first vehicle that is made and is 100% perfect I will buy it. There are so many components that go into new vehicles that problems are bound to happen along the way. I will get the couple of issues I have had fixed and will have no complaints at all.

I love mine as Well. A little disappointed in the resonant frequency that occures at 2100-2300 rpm. Hums like a hemi with flowmasters. After lubing all the dry zerks on the drive line, torque all the insanely loose U-bolts and keep ECT on .Overall im satisfied but not as much as i thought i would be.

Now to deal with the unkown...is my tranny low or not? Dealers dont want to fool with it. Not many folks invest 36k on a new truck just to crawl underit and diagnose the transmission on there on.

Shame on you toyota...shame on you.

No disappointment at all for me, I like it more each day. Seems like I learn something new about it each time I drive it. Familiar like my other trucks but more tech and power. The transmission took some getting used to but nothing I didnt like, just different than before. It IS getting more fluid as I drive it more.
I wanted better fuel economy and more power, now I have it.

No hood flutter, howling, vibration or technical glitches that some others seem to have. Pretty damn pleased with it.

It's early--only one day and still in the break-in phase, but I like mine so far after 100 gentle miles.

Inferno 4x4 DCSB Off-Road AT with premium/tech, towing, and tonneau cover. My previous vehicle was a 2005 Tacoma DC Sport that I had since it was new. The 2016 seems very nimble in comparison and quieter, more refined etc. Smooth ride over some fairly rough roads today. Overall the suspension and drive train seem well tuned and the total setup is good with a nice agile feel.

My $.02 on some of the issues that have been discussed on various threads:

    1. I don't really notice the transmission thing, in part because the AT shifts so smoothly.

    2. I'm 6'4" and while the 2nd-Gen had more headroom I'm ok with the 2016, even with the moonroof. My wife is 5'3" and is fine with it as well (I let her drive it once today).

    3. The tonneau cover was forced on me (otherwise no truck for a zillion months). I would have preferred going with an aftermarket RollnLock which I had on my 2005; the RollnLock lasted 11 years with no problem and was very quick and convenient in one-handed situations. However, the OEM cover is fine (and half as expensive as the RnL).

    4. No JBL, which I would have preferred, but the base sound system is ok (for my purposes anyway).

I was pleasantly surprised by this display on the maiden voyage from the dealer--during 40 miles of 55-60 mph break-in driving on interstate over lightly rolling Cumberland Valley terrain.
    trd mpg.jpg

So, in short, I'm happy so far and glad I made the switch from my 2nd-Gen.
