honestly, I was pretty happy with my truck in stock form. it's peppy, the ride was amazing for a truck, composed on unven roads, but a little sloppy through the turns. well, pretty sloppy. but i fixed that part =)

other than that the only thing that sucked was the bench. which i fixed as well. but all in all if i didn't find the internet and/or other nice tacomas i would have been pretty happy with this solid little truck.

I like a base model vehicle. The only things I changed was adding cruise, intermittent wipers, and wiring trailer lights. It pulls a little aluminum fishing boat just fine and I can put a little ATV in the bed if I want to go off road.

I bought mine for the stock function and reliability, it get's used often to carry 1000+ lb loads and has no issues handling that.

I won't be upgrading anything and haven't in 6 happy years.

Curt Hitch and etrailer.com wiring harness.
Added a trailer hitch, pigtail for the trailer lights and upgraded the tires to 235-70-15s.

One of the things I really like about the stock height is I am able to lean over the side of the bed and easily grab something on the bottom of the bed. Can't do that with the 6 lug or a lifted 5 lug..

aFe pro dry s drop in, secondary air filter delete, "Black Box" mod, debadged, tinted windows, 300mm Broadway rear view mirror, LED brake lights, side markers, rear turn signals, plate lights, and interior lights. Flowmaster cat back exhaust, a cracked tail light that I fixed with some tape, all black grille, 15” Raceline 401B wheels, Goodyear 235/75/15 All Terrain Tires
Do alot of surf/camp trips up the west coast. amazing on gas! Got an afe pro dry drop in filter. And bumping an alpine sub for long drives it's nice to bring the club with me. tint all around except windshield. However I do think she looks a little silly with little tires. Did the black box mod. Now I'm just waiting for a deal on some 30x9.5r15. And debating on a muffler.

From experience..don't ever do a SINGLE mod to your truck.eventually it'll bite you in the ass and you'll be modding everything..my old truck had so many different mods from driveshaft cm notches to gauge cluster swaps to hand built bumpstops to subaru seats to turn signal blinker mod...etc.

    it was a nightmare lol

I luv the truck. But i cant stand the flared out fenders that harbor the stock pizzia cutter tires. It looks ridiculous. The base truck screams "slam me or give me rubber".

Plate front bumper 3 inch lift Usual stereo stuff
i loved my truck minty fresh grandpaw owned 1996 with 140k miles and not a scratch. Nice paint etc. Then one day someone backs into me in a parking lot ruins my bumper and lower radiator support. Then the stock truck i used to work on everyone elses vehicles got the wheels turning. Got the insurance check fabricated a plate steel bumper, ordered a 3 inch suspension lift, and now im enjoying the truck more as i slowly improve its capabilities.

Gone over the Top for a 5-lug..
My truck was stock from date of purchase (Feb 2011) to (March 2015) .. 64,000km's of making do with a truck that collapsed under the weight of an ATV, and generally under-performing for my needs.

It's a slippery slope, once the mods start.. you are committed for the expected, and the unexpected.

I've a long history of custom-modding my motorcycles.. thanks to TW, my VISA balance owing has never been higher.

The truck as it is now, is an expression of the owner.. It was ok for the 4 years given the outrageous demands i placed on it, but now it's re-jigged to meet my needs, requirements and personal taste.

No regrets on straying away from stock.
