If I wanted a car that got the best MPG, I would get a Tesla. ;)

Side note: the Chevy Volt is a complete and utter joke.

Good to know that I am not alone. I am sure that I am getting somewhere around 11 in city.

I'm getting right at 14, my 05 f150 got 9 and I drove it around 300 miles a week when gas was in the high $3 a gallon and loved every second of it, never hesitated to stomp on it either. As long as you enjoy driving the vehicle, a couple extra dollars here and there shouldn't matter.

Not too worried about the MPG in my truck.

Before I got rid of my JK I picked up an r53 mini as a DD because the jeep wasn't really the best commuter with 35" mud grapplers and fab four armor.
But, I missed having a tacoma so I got rid of the jeep and the mini and haven't looked back. Also, it helps that I'll be commuting on this come summertime.

The EV-1 used older battery technology (lead acid) and a longer range than the Chevy Volt. Remember this was the 1990's too.

The Chevy Volt has newer technology batteries that are almost exaclty the same size and shape as the battery pack used on the EV-1 yet it has a much smaller range (40 Miles before it needs to be charged or use gas). This is probably due to the fact it has to carry not just one drive train around, but two, because it is a hybrid.

EV-1: Older technology + higher performance = OK

Volt: Better technology + lower performance = Joke

Hybrids are a stupid idea in my opinion. Too much weight to carry around, and too much shit that can go wrong.

Both Telsa models are all electric with a 200+ mile range on a single charge. :D

I don't care about mpg all that much. I recognize it as a cost of ownership, but compared to all the mods it's not very much :p Most of us on tacomaworld are running bigger heavier tires and lifts that are less aerodynamic.. so claiming to be about the mpgs is kinda dumb.

What I do care about is range. I hate having to worry about being able to make it to the next town. As it is now I have to drive slower than I would like or I can't make it to the next gas station to the south on a tank! Need to get a good auxiliary tank option figured out before I wear these tires out and go bigger, otherwise I'll be stranded in the north!

But then I have to stop and pour gas by hand. What is this, 1956 Uganda?

I always want to maximize power and maintain MPG, but I didn't really care until after my MPGs fell to 15.5 from 18.5 not much but it really kills the range.... Luckily it was just sand in my air filter but if I have to deal with V6 power I want ok MPG....

With the 2016 now we are going to a smaller V6, the only reason should be better MPG but it's more likely just to save money.... But if they can increase the performance and the MPG that is a win win...... and if you are in the mountains with half a tank another couple of mpg is a lot of range....

Where I live the closest place to off road is 3 hours away and I plan on traveling the US with my truck so MPG is part of the package but not 1st or 2nd but on the list...

My buddy with his Tundra doesn't care about mpg at all.........

Only other way is a long range fuel tank at about $1500 by the time you're done . $120 worth of Scepter cans and 5 minutes to dump in 40 litres .

The only time I REALLY cared was when I forgot to fill up. I was trying to figure out if I could make it to a gas station....

I don't really care but it's pretty sad the taco gets shittier mileage than some full size trucks.

dont mind the gas, do mind the dated 4.0l in the car though. WISH toyo would give us something like a ecoboost motor option. I did enjoy the new ford when I had it for a few days, great engine for a full size.

She's no Rachel Welch, but Farrah was petty hot back then.

They had an 800 gallon gas tank in the van so they wouldn't have to stop to refuel.
