Some people just don't like to piss money away anymore then is needed....

Got better things to spend my time and money on....

Yes I said time... better mpg equals less fill ups on a trip and less wasted time.

I just do the how many miles i went divided by how many gallons it took. Simply to see when I am driving like an ass hat and try and get me to stop. Its better than my old bronco, better than the 05 ranger i had and about the same as the 04 exploder i had. 15-17 and if i am lucky and dont drive like a dick i can get 20-21 going to and from Bend Or. But no I really don't care for "financial" or "green" reasons.

I don't anymore, my 2010 Tacoma was averaging around 14 mpg on the highway and I could care less. come on it's a truck, and going to be used as a truck. I'm actually regretting getting rid of that one for my 2015 Tacoma

    Ignorance? Let's try illiteracy.

    Proof read much?

Yes I drove an '84 Sentra, with Air Conditioning and still got 40 MPG HWY. Gee, I'm no expert but that seems fairly fuel efficient to me. Again, this was with 30 year old technology so the emissions standards may not have been as stringent as they are today in the USA. You'd have to think the automakers could improve the fuel efficiency after 30 years, c'mon.

Oh and as far as pollution spewing vehicles are concerned, have you looked at the amount of soot and smoke that comes out of city transit and school buses? My Sentra never generated that much pollution even after it had 150,000 miles on it.

Anyway, getting back on topic, I don't really give two shits about MPG on my truck. That's not what I bought it for. :stirthepot:

Don't care at all, I get 12 and I love my truck the whole time I'm in it. That's all that matters to me.

Since we are stirring the pot.

Seems like many here act like using as much gas as possible is cool, or even patriotic, or that it's only about either green or being cheap.

The money and lives wasted in the middle east are the price we pay to continue to live as though consuming gas is cool.

I find it more patriotic to not use gas like I don't care.

Will you now please tell me a story's about how that "HO 305" in your '80s truck was some special High Output Chevrolet Race motor and made twice the power of these sissy modern V8s?

So you also want to compare a heavy diesel commercial truck to an economy car? You do realize vehicles are broken down into classifications and each group is required to meet different standards, right?

Looks to me like they have improved quite a God damn lot.

That doesn't even consider the safety improvements, refinement, rust protection, nah, emissions, comfort and accessories that you now get.

Why do you keep saying I'm 'throwing money away', and I'm 'totally cool' with 15 mpg? I posted that I get 19 -21 for mpg. I'm pretty sure if I drove more like a true patriot, my mpg isn't going to go up.

I can't believe the turn this thread took...mods, feel free to close it...

    Hybrids...

When are people going to wake up and realize that while hybrids, I agree, are at least step in the right direction, they are still just a half hearted attempt at making a viable all electric vehicle.

Fuel cell technology isn't much better. With these you still have to use a "fuel" that can be taxed. One of the reasons we don't have more electric cars or "plug in" hybrids is the federal, state, and local governments haven't found a way to put a "road tax" on the electricity used to charge vehicles like they do with fuels.

In Virginia, they even put an extra tax on owning an electric vehicle to make up for the fuel tax revenue these vehicles would not generate. Once upon a time you could get a tax credit for owning and electric or alternative fuel vehicle, but those days are over. It all boils down to greed.

The specs you have there are suspect since the pictures of the vehicles are clearly an '87 or newer Nissan Sentra. The 84's and 85's had a different body style. Oops. ;)

Nevertheless, the 34 MPG HWY shown is pretty close to what I got.

Just chilling and cruisin' the forums tonight... This got pretty intense quickly...

I personally do not care what gas mileage my current vehicle gets...unless there is an indication that there is a problem with my truck. I will get the same average gas mileage every time because I drive the same routes over and over again and my 08 gets slightly better mileage than my 02.

Just like how I don't care what gas prices are...I'm going to be paying for gas no matter what anyways, and we don't have that many choices around here.

I've always gotten the same mileage in every single vehicle I ever owned, so a drop or rise from 1-2 mpg is utterly negligible. I have a close commute from home to work, has always been that way. To me, I don't give a shit about gas.
